Replying To Matchwatcher:  "Fair play to Seans and Currin. Not many looked past Blackhill and Aghabog. Unfortunately though, it seems just a case of who Emyvale beat in the final. Strongest Junior team since Aughnamullen a few years ago.Way too strong for the division and winning it probably not that big of an achievement given their resources in comparison to other Junior sides. An injury hit Rockcorry stayed in touch with them for the first half but 2nd half was one way traffic. Emyvale seriously strong bench and showed no mercy when Rock had man sent off.Currin outmuscled Aghabog in the middle sector and were deserved winners. Big Murphy kicked some serious 2 pointers.Eire Og have to be disappointed with losing to Scotstown. They will be playing Currin/Seans in a promotion match, I'd say, as it's hard to see that Emyvale won't win the double. Toome and Drumhowan looking likely to drop back down. Junior should be less predictable next year."
I strongly fancied currin to beat the bog… having 38/39 men togged out may look good for social media but when push came to shove currin outmuscled them as predicated… unless there's a serious late growth spurt among that current aghabog team there destined to be in junior for a long long time….outside of emyvale (which is actually shameful that there in junior), the rest like Sean's, Eire og and currin wouldn't have a mission near intermediate football…

Any reason why Minors and U20s didn't get posted?

As other posters have said, fair play to Currin, excellent win for them at the weekend. A small but resilient club that have had to deal with a couple of bad blows off the field over the last couple of years.

The minor appointment leaves far more questions than answers, if what I was told my someone close to the u16 squad this year over the weekend is right it beggars belief what is going on.

Wat were ya told?
All I've heard is the outgoing u16 manager & his proposed backroom team just wasn't good enough.

Who is on Joe O'Boyle's backroom team?
Who was on Matthew Lambe's?
Huge issue is the lack of continuity, the u16 manager is familiar with the players. The appointed manager was with u15 group last year and has not worked with the boys in their final year.

Continuity isn't an issue.

Malone, Counihan, Banty were the last 3 minor managers, none of them had any dealing with the players prior to Co Minors.
Banty & Counihan won an Ulster title and Malone got to an All Ireland final so if anything the lack of continuity (our bias) appears to be a massive positive.

At the same time we need to develop coaches too. Would it not make more sense to have the same manager all the way rather than someone just step in and take it ?

Agreed. And Gerry Connolly who was down for the 20s moved to the minors. He will bring experience to the management staff. Drew Joe and Ciaran will do a cracking job with a cracking team!!!!

That would mean changing minor managers every year, doesn't make an ounce of sense.

Both management teams have ex players on board, this is a massive improvement from the past number of years. Wishing them both every success.

What difference does that make ? Ex players were players … not coaches

Picking up a great team after not winning a game with the u15s is a weird silver spoon to lift!
