Can't say for sure but it looks to me like the 2022 Leinster semi-finalists were seeded as away teams for the 2023 quarter finals. Louth or Wicklow probably don't have a home championship grade venue and that's why they're being played at neutral venues. Open to correction on this.

Id imagine at the start of the year promotion from div 3 was the number 1 aim for Dessie and his management team and they generally went with the same starting 15-except for the odd injury and the dead rubber game against Tipp. They didnt get promotion so do they now stick with his league team or change it up a bit??or where will change improve their chances against Louth.?

change in attitude would help

What does change in attitude mean? That the players don't care?? We're hardly complacent so how can attitude be wrong? Change in tactics possibly? Attitude has been good in my opinion. They're very fit, competitive in every game except Fermanagh.

so to be 8 points up and cave in is not about a complacent attitude

Against Down? Be fair Mick, Down got a run on us, it's not as if we started showboating, it happens, Div 3 was competitive with exception of Longford and Tipp.

I dont think Westmeath were in any way complacent away against Down-we were excellant for 45 mins and deserved to be well ahead but the game changed and Down got the upper hand albeit with the help of referee Gough who was poor in my opinion in those closing minutes and gave Down every possible decision-he absolutely did Westmeath out of a result. But never for 1 minute did our lads stop trying-the home crowd(and ref) dragged Down over the line..But we seem to struggle to play against a defencess set up team-we need to keep Heslin inside and use his sttengths-no point in him being out around the middle.

Is there any point? They only draw Round 1 games and don't give running order of other games. Didn't even bother giving an order of games for the league this year.

Westmeath going with tried and tested. More or less the Tailteann Cup team. Few positional changes is all. Experienced team. Few lads that haven't played much league this year and a few unlucky not to start. Hopefully a good westmeath crowd go and get behind the team now.

Good strong Westmeath team-if it stays as selected-Jack Cooneys starting 15 in Tailteann cup final so plenty of experience there. We need to take the game to Louth at pace-slow methodical over and back stuff will only suit Harte's defensive set up.

Hard to agree with previous poster as if we play as selected then we have discovered no new talent in the league. That would be worrying as we definitely need to incorporate younger players. I'm doubtful that Baker and Scahill won't start as they both bring pace, something that is crucial in the modern game and a big help to breaking down defensive minded teams like Louth.

ah right last year they did the draw live and groups etc . Suppose it all depends on how the lads do in the championship when it will start

Over on the Louth Facebook page they say they can't be beaten. They are just too good.

Both Baker and scahill started all the league games. I know championship and league are different but they will both be very unlucky not to start tomorrow. Both had been going very well for senior team prior to u20 championship

We have lots of experience but how much experience is needed? It's a first round match vs Louth in front of maybe 4,000 supporters, it's not the final. Jamie Gonoud and Jack Smith have played virtually no competitive games in six months, Baker and Scahill provide pace and energy, we're not a team blessed with searing pace, hopefully both feature tomorrow
