Replying To Claretandblue:  "Expecting a management team from October to March to significantly improve s and C is pie in the sky, that work takes 3-4 years, that's the issue, you still haven't answered my query as to why much more was expected of this group? Did they win inter county under 15 tournaments two years ago? Talented group??"
I've read that the management team had been in charge of this group from U14 onwards so surely that was enough time to implement s&c. This team also had a win over Dublin last year and many of the players would be operating at Leinster A level in schools and correct me if I'm wrong but 3 of them started for Moate CS in a Leinster Final against Naas. If you think a 12 point defeat to Louth was the expectation well then we can agree to disagree. I feel there was a lot more to offer from that group but it just didn't seem coached to break down the modern defensive blanket we see at all inter county levels now. The Meath game was there to be won and we resorted to driving in high balls. Would you disagree with any of that?

We beat Dublin under 16 last year, that's Dublin that field maybe 4-5 squads of players? We've had 4-5 colleges at Senior A level for maybe 10-15 years, doesn't necessarily mean inter county success unfortunately

Exactly. u16s beat Cork at the weekend. Good win, no doubt. But they would have only been playing only one of the Cork teams. Who will have maybe a handful on the Cork minor team next year. There is a tendency to blow up expectations based off results like this.
Given population , we shouldn't expect to have a Leinster winning minor team any more than once every ten years or so. But have only made one final in the past 20, which was lost comprehensively, so definitely underachieving.
However, the most important thing at this level is preparing players for the next step , rather than winning. Even more true now that intercounty minor is u17. Not sure how well we are doing at this either though.

Any idea of what injuries westmeath have, great that heslin is back, won't win much without him. Think Louth have a few injuries aswell, What is the possible westmeath team.

Is Jack Smith back. Mccartan probably better in half forward. L dolan a serious finisher but hasn't been at level he was at last year.
