I heard Shane Curran's name being mention. Seems a few posters here would be delighted...

I'd say Shane McGowan has more chance than Shane Curran. He is on first name terms with the county board executive though based on his regular appearances at various appeals, counter appeals etc!!!!!

Shane McGowan to cut his teeth into inter county management?

I would hope Dessie and John stay on and they bring in Damien Gavin as manager.

Gavin done a decent job with the U20's, particularly last year's bunch which came very close to beating an Offaly team that went on to win the All Ireland.

Loman's boss Declan Kelly was the Offaly U20 manager and there was talk oft him in Cusack over the weekend.

Apparently Kelly was offered the Offaly senior job but ruled himself out due to work commitments.

But if he hasn't time for his own county, he hardly has the time for Westmeath?

Who else is there?

Is Twaddle leaving Moate too i hear? Could well be asked in as extended management ticket in westmeath or his own longford.

Is it of any significance that Declan Kelly has resigned from his Offaly U20 role? Could he be the man?

Moate's form since the league final hardly inspire confidence in him? Anthony Cunningham surely a contender based on experience, local knowledge and geography. Peter Tormey would likely be part of his ticket with maybe Dessie and John Keane.

Roscommon finding it very hard to get a manager too. The levels of committment may well drive lots of big names back into the club scene.

Getting back to the club scene, The Downs 2nd team gave Paul's some hammering last night. They certainly looked better than what I saw of Multy earlier in the competition. My new favourites for the Junior. Well done to Killucan on their win in the senior, other clubs with dual players should be knocking on their door to see how they make it work when many seem to struggle. On a side note, one 0the Downs players got a nasty injury last night, I hope he's ok. The game was held up 55 mins while waiting on an ambulance. It was crazy the game wasn't abandoned. Surely in that situation the ref should have sent both teams (and the poor supporters!) Home??

Poor supporters?? Young player suffered serious injury and supporters are part of your concern!!! How was ref to know how long ambulance would take?

I see The Downs will play Multy in the junior semi final. I'd have thought that the group winners would end up on opposite sides of the draw.

Tubberclair playing St Marys in the Intermediate they both won their groups

Thought that was strange alright, probably to improve the chances of 2 sole junior clubs getting to final ??
My sources tell me St Paul's were poor so I wouldn't be reading too much into the big win by The Downs.
Hopefully young Josh Murtagh who is a great prospect recovers well from the injury.
If I am not mistaken he is already hurling senior with Clonkill.
Still a Multy Bun final for me. Garrycastle will give Bun a decent game and might cause another shock.
I see The Downs have 3 adult mens teams thought to semi finals plus the senior ladies too. Some going.
That must mean 65 lads or so playing adult football.
I know Lomans and Shamrocks fielded 3 championship teams also but at junior 2 both seemed to struggle.

Tailteann Cup team being announced early next week, we could get 7-8 awards, Jack Smith, Kevin Maguire, Ronan Wallace, Sam McCartan, Ronan O' Toole and John Heslin all guaranteed selections in my opinion, Luke Loughlin and Lorcan Dolan very strong chance too, possibly only one of them as we're unlikely to get entire full forward line, outside bets are Jamie Gonoud, Ray Connellan. We'll definitely have seven selected based on our performances, Offaly might get none despite reaching semi final.

So in the intermediate football the semi pairings are:

Milltown vs Shandonagh - interesting local derby, Shandonagh were probably lucky enough to get over Ballymore.
In the group stages Shandonagh won by a point 1-12,1-11.

Tubberclair vs Rochfortbridge. St Mary's are 5 wins from 5 in the group while Tubberclair comfortably disposed of Castledaly 1-12,0-7, this despite being a man down after 20 mins. A late goal probably made the final score a bit deceptive. I have been impressed with Tubberclair's progress since coming up from junior. They are doing well at underage on their own and the future is bright.

I'll go for a Shandonagh Tubberclair final.

Steady on! 'Poor supporters' was more of a figure of speech, of course the player injured was the main concern.
I'm open to correction here but from recollection and reading about other games in the past; any time an ambulance needs to drive onto a pitch it results in the game being abandoned. At one stage I saw the poor guy being treated by the ambulance service guys while not 20 yards away there's two teams warming up to restart the match. It didnt look good and showed a lack of respect to the injured player IMO.

Milltown bet Shandonagh by 6 or 7 points in the group game.
