Replying To BigSur:  "St Joseph's GAA are delighted to confirm our Senior team Management for 2024 with Eoin Carberry taking on the Managers position with Paddy Malynn and Alan Farrell coming in as Trainer and Selectors. Eoin takes over from Declan Mulally who guided the team to successive league titles and very impressive runs in the last two years in the Championship."
That's a good appointment for joes and a good appointment for Eoin to cut his teeth, youd imagine they'll be junior favourites ahead of finea and Ballycomoyle.
I see Mickey Dan Murtagh has left Ballycomoyle for the clonkill job, they must be disappointed with that after having a good year under him in 2023

You would think so but despite their best year in years the club decided on a change. Clonkill not long in snapping him up.

Replying To BigSur:  "Good appointment but the letter that circulated regarding his previous job highlighted that there are no guarantees. Ambitious move by Caulry but has he the players to reach a final and then go on and win it within 2/3 years ? I'm not so sure. In terms of seedings, Lomans are obviously top dog with Kinnegad, The Downs and Caulry in close pursuit.
Any other positions getting filled ?"
Ambitious appointment from my own club. Will need to hit the ground running after huge progress made last few seasons. Some players travelling and some more unsure of plans

Pat has a great pedigree and wish him luck

Definitely can't see them getting out of that group.

If Finea perform like they did in the intermediate championship this year they will win the junior, they ran Milltownpass and St Malachys close while missing a couple of regulars. Joseph's are a poor outfit.

Any updates on how challenge games going for westmeath. Is there many new players in and who is gone, loads of rumours about both. Sam Duncan definitely gone but after that am not sure. I saw the topics team of year, few questionable inclusions from what i saw but I wasn't at all the games. Anybody fancy picking the team to line out against offaly in 1st round of league

Daly
Scahill Maguire Harte
Seery Wallace McCartan
Connellan McCormack
McCormack O'Toole baker
Loughlin Heslin Dolan

I'd expect something similar to this a few fresher faces alongside the veterans. Wouldn't be suprised if connellan and maybe Heslin didn't start also.

Happy Christmas coffey. Best of luck in the intermediate championship, will be tough to stay up in that

Fair point !
We're stuck enough though if playing Andy mcc there he's far from a midfielder.I'd rather drumm from the downs out there

Andy McCormack was one of Westmeath's best performers last year and done well around the middle against quality opposition

Tommy Browne from Maryland in charge of St. Malachy's, Buddah staying on with Castletown, think only Clonkill with Michael Murtagh and Castlepollard with Andrew Dermody in charge have changed managers of the senior hurling clubs, no idea about Killucan manager, Peter Ballesty and Seanie Loughlin with Milltown and Anthony Maher with Ballynacargy, presume Eoin Jordan with Athlone, think Keith Higgins gone from Tang, his assistant Darren Rigney part of Multy management.

Will the O'Byrne cup be a disaster like it was the last few years, it used to be a great competition to blood players and when the colleges were involved it made for very interesting contests i thought some big scalps taking over the years. Countys seem to just ignore it now and play loads of challenge games each week. Should the O Byrne cup become an U-22/23 competition or does that add more fixtures clashing with sigerson?? Thoughts

A lot of new players in training with the squad at the moment so the O'Byrne cup is an ideal competition to test them in competitive games. No point in playing established players in this competition-give new lads and squad players a chance to see if there up to the challange to go ahead and compete later in the season.Id imagine most teams do likewise
