Lomans have a right chance at making it to Croke Park (assuming semi finals are being played there again) with Wexford and Longford champions on their side of the draw . Malachys are away to Clonmore in Carlow and Kilbeggan play a team from Kilkenny.

Not sure Lomans will care. Or even notice. Fully expect them to make it to the semi at least. I don't think they are as good as they were in 2017 ; but they might not need to be.

All Ireland champions Kilmacud \ Ballyboden will be too strong for any other team in Leinster. Lomans dont have a defence to match the forward lines of these super clubs.

Ive nothing but respect for St Lomans, their players some of whom have been the countys best and what they have achieved as a club but curious to know what you think constitutes a well ran club?

I think most would have no issue with the Loman's players but how the Club has conducted itself over the years in acquiring players from everywhere and anywhere would have annoyed many. Most Clubs over the years would have had a catchment area and stuck to that. Loman's changed all that.

Or The Downs or Shandonagh?

All 4 clubs pull from the Mullingar Parish area.

I live in Mullingar and there are kids in my estate who play for Lomans, Shamrocks, The Downs, and Shandonagh. It's a complete free for all.

Lomans have had players playing in senior county finals living in Delvin and Castlepollard in recent years

The same can be said for alot of kids living in the countryside (well outside Mullingar) but still playing for Lomans or Shamrocks

Most important thing is that the kids are playing football.Usually follow the path of an older sibling or when they reach a certain age they will follow their friends.Of course if a kid is showing real talent at a young age then the wagons are circled and so called higher profile clubs step in..

Four senior clubs in one town must be unheard of in the Gaa. Tullamore and Portlaoise as similar Midlands towns have one club each. Think the original posters complaints was to do with lads from outside town playing with Lomans, Enda Gaffney is from Delvin, Sean Lancaster from Castlepollard,

No. Just asked you to explain what you mean by a well ran club. What makes a well ran club?

The majority of The Downs players are from The Downs, I don't think they'd refer to themselves as a town club.
Some country lads end up playing for Lomans as their father worked/works there and played with Lomans back in the day

No doubt. Was just responding to the question about how a kid in the town would decide where to play.
I think when you look at the underage numbers currently at the 4 clubs - they are all in very good health.

The Downs have loads of players at underage and adult level who are living in housing estates throughout the town and indeed further afield. Unfortunately parents as well as clubs at fault with chasing medals and glory more important than playing with local club. County board have ignored this
