I fancy Ballinamore to pull off a shock here against Mountbellew Moylough or am I mad? Leitrim champions have been torn asunder in this competition over the years. But M/M won't be feared as much as Corofin. Not taking anything away from M/M's superb victory but Corofin were shocking poor. Their defending for the goal was juvenile stuff. Tom Prior is one to watch for Ballinamore.

Stop.... Not a chance in hell. The Galway intermediate champs would probably beat Ballinamore and although not nice to hear or say its not far off the truth

It's new territory for MM for sure, so it'll be interesting to see how they deal with it.
There will also be the challenge of re-focusing in a short timeframe after the high of finally getting over the line in Galway after so many near misses.
MM have some quality players as well as a size and physicality that's well suited to winter football.
I'll admit to knowing very little about Ballinamore, but nothing surprises me in club football, which is part of what makes it so interesting.
Mullinaghta beating Kilmacud a few years ago is only one example of a team from a less-fancied county beating a hot favourite.
We should know the Mayo representatives after this weekend too. Every club will be thinking they have a good shot at a provincial title.
The last 12 titles were won by Corofin, Brigid's and Castlebar, so that streak will be ended this year.

This Mountbellew team is very good. Haven't been beaten all year in league or championship. No fluke either that they beat Corofin in the final. They hammered Corofin in the league this year and their last two championship meetings have now been comfortable wins for Mountbellew.

They've been very impressive. It's mainly the same group from a few years ago who broke through initially from the underage success, but they're now hitting their prime age wise, whereas they were young and raw back then. They've improved year on year.
They tick a lot of the boxes. They have an excellent freetaker, accurate forwards who can win their own ball, plenty big players and a strong midfield, as well as mobile attacking backs. They might lack pace in certain areas, but it's not as much of an issue on softer pitches.

Yes they are in serious form with huge momentum having taken out Corofin twice in championship football they are rightly favourites for this Connacht championship.

How Leitrim teams have fare in the Connacht championship recently

2019 GlencarManorHamilton lost by 5 to Ballintubber
2018 Aughawillan lost by 9 points to Ballintubber
2017 Mohill lost by 5 points to Castlebar
2016 Aughawillan lost by 14 to Brigids
2015 Mohill lost by 13 to Corofin

Last win for a Leitrim club was 2014 when Aughawillan bet Tubbercurry by 5 and they went on to ship almighty hammering v Corofin by 35 points.

How will the London champs fare against Tourlestrane? Personally I would be surprised if it was anything other than a comfortable Tourlestrane victory. However I do think that London champs could win matches on occasion, especially if lucky with the draw, rather than going in cold against provincial champs every year.

Tourlestrane will win. Kevin Johnson who won 2 Mayo Club titles wont be caught on the hop plus this current Tourlestrane team have not won a Championship game in Connacht so they will want to correct that.

Be surprised to see St Kiernans win this one, would love to see them do it, would be a huge boost for London club football as they are one of the clubs who have invested a lot of time and energy in their underage set up.

Good effort by Ballinamore who seemed to run out of steam 2nd half. As Yondu pointed out above Leitrim clubs are certainly improving in the senior championship.

Tourlestrane given a decent contest also. Makes for two interesting semi finals. Knockmore v Mountbellew Moylough is the favourite final according to the bookies but its a wide open championship in my view.

After the high of finally getting over the line and the emotion which came with that, it was going to be difficult for MM to get back to business. They showed good composure and patience though to chip away at the lead and then see the game out.
Pearses will be a serious challenge. I'd love to see MM continue their run, but it's very hard to pick a winner there.
Knockmore finished strongly in Mayo today and look to be a well balanced team. As mentioned, Connacht is wide open this year.

I always thought this would be tough. There is a history of clubs who finally win the county losing to teams they normally wouldn't in provincial. They celebrate, and rightly so, and no matter what is said the eye is off the ball to a certain extent.

MM will be stronger for this win.

So M/M vs Pearse's is off due to Covid. I'm afraid we'll see quite a bit more of this over the next few weeks, with the way case numbers are trending.

Huge pitty about the pearses was really looking forward to getting to the Hyde Sunday we had our own covid issues after the county final

Saturday in the hurling think this will be tough for the roscommon side long time since they won't the county final.

St Patrick's vs St Joseph's

Another tough assignment for the roscommon side they haven't played a game in nearly two months hopefully they can avoid a hammering

M/M were taking Corofin down to the wire in the Galway Championship at a time when Corofin were toying with Dr Crokes and Nemo Rangers in All Ireland Finals.
Not a bad bet for an All Ireland title at all.
Huge physical presence and a great attitude.
M/M lost out to Corofin several times and came back stronger each year.
Best of luck to them!!

Safe to say you were far off. Ballinamore beat the handicap anyway.

Thoughts on Padraig Pearses? They will be out to redeem themselves in Connacht.

Redeem themselves in Connacht?

Their one and only Connacht senior campaign they reached the final losing to Corofin who won the contest in the final quarter and Corofin went on to win the All-Ireland after that match.
