Not officially MHC games for the record. That was a qualifier competition.

Football was a made up game for those who were not skilled enough to grace the hurling fields. It's such a poor game it required a total overhaul in rules. Call out the 20 plus counties who suppress our national sport. From reading this forum from time to time you seem to have all the answers

u14 hurling panel announced, 55 players and 14 clubs represented. Great to see

Its part of the same competition, not a separate one. Any of those teams could progress/win the competition. Check Leinster website - listed as Walter hanrahan cup.

Hurling flourishes where Cricket was previously strong. Kilkenny had loads of Cricket clubs before hurling was officially morphed into what it became under GAA rules

Cricket is 500 years old, hurling is over 3,000 years old. Hurling has been around longer

I don't disagree but hurling strongholds mirror where cricket was strong. Cork,Tipp,Kilkenny,East Galway,West Offaly and in our own county North Westmeath. Its not that long ago that there were multiple cricket clubs in Westmeath

I was with you in thinking the game should be in Cusack Park (and not because I was afraid Kilkenny might go home again if the surface wasn't to their liking) but Phase 1 of the Leinster Minor Hurling Championship was in fact the Championship.

Hurling is an ancient sport. Cricket is a sport only found in British colonies. It was used as part of the process to impose cultural dominance on invaded nations. To an extent Gaelic Football is a compromise rugby soccer alternative a made up game to counter this culture. Fact remains we get more abuse about the strength of football in KK when the treatment of Hurling within the GAA is a far greater issue. It's a much better game to play and watch and is a second class citizen within the GAA fact
