Ah you're surely not serious? Everyone has seen the proposals floating around that Johnny and Kevin had, with everyone confirmed That would be serious malpractice is the private sector He has David O'Reilly and the usual kit man and team sec LockLeanGayl (Westmeath) - Posts: 257 - 28/08/2024 11:41:58 2567334 Link 1 |
Who are the usual kit man & team sec? And who had Johnny & Kevin lined up? stonemadbeany (USA) - Posts: 586 - 28/08/2024 14:42:09 2567381 Link 0 |
Johnny had Eoin Roche, Ronan O'Byrne, Mark Brennan, Darren McCormack. Plus a host of high performance coaches from other sports as support staff Kevin had Eddie Brennan, Niall O'Meara, Brendan Murtagh, Adrian O'Sullivan, Dermot Moran Everyone has seen both proposals they have done the rounds, nobody has seen Bulfins! Sure if you need to be told who the usual boys are…! LockLeanGayl (Westmeath) - Posts: 257 - 30/08/2024 10:36:35 2567632 Link 1 |
O'Brien approached by Meath to replace Bulfin but has turned it down.

I'm not in the know as much as you, was just asking a genuine question. When I go to a Westmeath game I don't pay much heed as to who is on the line. I did hear that a lot of the "usual boys" who had been with Fortune, as in water and hurl carriers weren't going to be involved with Bulfin, maybe you can enlighten me?

Eddie Brennan as a coach or selector? That definitely would have lost the room for Kevin O' B. Brennan has managed Laois previously so why would he be interested in suddenly going to a McDonagh Cup side as a number two or three. I suspect many posters here would know the reasons why!!

I'm no hurling expert but outside Darren McC I've never heard of any of those coaches. Who are they and their achievements?

The two lads played fitzgibbon together. In fairness I heard Brennan was coming in as a performance coach like what Jason Sherlock did with footballers. All water under bridge. MOVE ON LADS.

See Luke Loughlin said he'd love to play duel if the county new management on both can accommodate him. Surely the hurling management would be willing to do that? He wouldn't have the same commitment as the rest of the panel but they'd surely understand if he's going between both camps. I think it'd be a no brainer, use him sparingly in the league and maybe then have him raring to go for the Joe Mcdonagh. I think he's well capable of being hugely influential to both the footballers and the hurlers. Dheen (Westmeath) - Posts: 900 - 30/08/2024 19:22:08 2567721 Link 1 |
Considering there's no dual players at senior level in the entire country then I'd be doubtful about such a proposition. There are 2-3 weekends when both codes have fixtures clashing during the national league. Surely a player choosing one team over the other wouldn't go down well? It's not as if either side will have handy matches. Training sessions would also involve choosing one over the other, players train together three to four times weekly, that's just in one code, it's not a question of the players ability to play both, Luke has lit up the hurling championship this summer with his goals but managers know that full focus is required at that level and couldn't see either manager compromising.

If Raharney win are they straight through to final assuming they beat Pollard

Think there's a possibility of three teams finishing on 8 points if Raharney win twice, Castletown twice and Clonkill win vs The Gaels. In that case I think Castletown go straight to final as their score difference in the games with Clonkill and Raharney is superior. Senior B championship could hardly be better poised before last round of matches with Delvin, Fr. Dalton's and Ringtown all on six points and Crookedwood on five. Delvin face Crookedwood in the last round and Ringtown play Fr. Daltons with all teams in contention for the top three places. Crookedwood unlikely to make it directly to final but will make semi if they beat Delvin. Cullion have only one point from eight but have been very competitive and need to draw or beat Castletown to avoid relegation to intermediate grade. Important wins today in intermediate for Southern Gaels and Raharney with Turin's heavy defeat a major blow to their play off chances.
