Only catching up on a few posts now. Interesting to see the 2/3 u20s that were on the panel are with the 20's the weekend.

Having seen the team / panel for the 3 league games thus far, I cant help but feel that some players that are playing/on the panel wouldn't be considered to be key meneven for their club? Be interesting to get others thoughts?

Best of luck to the team and management tomorrow against London. I think it is important for all concerned that we get a win; to give the setup a boost. In my opinion there are players on the u20 team that i would pick on the senior team but i understand while this might be good in the short term; it may not in the medium-long term. I think we are in transition. We have some players in the senior who were under age recently and are adapting to senior lintercounty level. We have some good under age players who may not be physically ready for senior as yet who are being left to play under age for another year. I hope that these players can be managed properly because if they are, they will be part of the senior setup for the next number of years. Just one negative point; i do think we are behind alot of counties even division four counties in terms of changing tactics during a game and in terms of losing possession too easily. I hope the current manager can address these two areas.

A nice win today..probably should have won by more but no complaints. The team look like there is a plan in place which is good..defence stood up fairly well apart from the stupid penalty given away. The only worry is that London were quite poor to be fair. Anyway onwards and upwards hopefully! Laois away next...anyone think we have a chance?

Biggest win for Wicklow this weekend is Oisín McConville releasing the lads for the 20s game. Wicklow need to focus on developing the talent we have and I think this was a great move long term.

I agree totally. Finally a bit of joined up thinking. What's next for the U20s. This group have a bit of potential.

Good win by senior team over London and under20 team over Wexford. A good performance by the seniors as they had to win to keep alive their promotion hopes. A big test awaits in next round; away to Laois who are probably one of the favourites for promotion but we beat them in the championship even if we had home advantage. I think the under20 team have real potential and I will be watching them closely in the Leinster championship when it starts. I think it is the correct decision to allow players who could play senior to play under20 while they are eligible. I don't see us winning the Tailteann Cup this year but if we can have a good run at promotion and have a good run in the Leinster under20, that would be a good season especially if some more young players develop and are integrated into the senior setup.

Does anyone know when the U20 football championship starts? There are no dates on the Leinster site and the master fixtures only shows the AI semi finals and final which are on the first two weekends in May.

Lads big things are happening in Wicklow football ,there is huge talent in the county at u14s and u15s age groups and the coaches we have involved in academy squads would make you feel very positive.

This weekends game against Laois should be very informative. Laois are on a roll but it's hard to work out form so far. Laois had it tough against Carlow and Wicklow practically gifted Carlow a draw. Wicklow then collapsed in the second half against Sligo but had a good win over London who had been showing good form up to that. Wexford surprised the other high flyers Leitrim while have in themselves struggled with London. What I have been looking for since the Carlow game is to build consistency. This has hardly been happening but it's early days and, like I opened, the Laois game will be interesting. Best of luck to team and mentors.

Looking forward to tomorrow's game in OMP.

Laois with 3 wins out of three but played very poorly the last day and now likely to be down 3/4 starters between suspension and injuries. Evan O'Carroll especially will be a big loss as the main target man in the full forward line.

The beating we took in Aughrim last year will be fresh in the mind.

Wicklow 4/1 with the bookies which looks very over priced, i'm expecting a very tight game, hoping Laois come through it but if Wicklow win it won't be a major upset.

Safe travels to all Wicklow people making the trip!

Best of luck to the Wicklow seniors tomorrow night against Laois. It is a big game for Wicklow as we can't afford any more slip up if we want to be promoted. We have been consistently inconsistent in the three games to date; some good signs and some old failings. Laois away is a tough but winnable game but only if we play to our max. Laoisvillian: it is a good sign when a team is playing badly and winning. Laois have played three and won three. Oisin has been consistent in his team selection so I don't expect major changes to the team. Hoping for a good game and a Wicklow win away from home.

Echo that...best of luck to the team tomorrow night...not quite sure what to expect from Wicklow at the moment very good in patches against London and the first half against Sligo and abject in the second half against Sligo. Portlaoise has not been kind to us over the years but fingers crossed that can be put right tomorrow night...the lads are capable of it!

A very good hard fought win last night - fair play to all involved. This Div 4 is starting to look even more unclear than before it started. We still have a few tricky obstacles to negotiate in Leitrim and our old friends Wexford. With the greatest respect to Waterford, they seem a little off the pace. It's in our own hands now. If we win the remaining games, we are up - I think.

Many positives to be taken from the match against Laois. The team played with much more cohesion and fluidity than in previous games. They held their shape and each player gave his all in tackling and covering back. A real encouraging sign was the spread of scores over 8 players . This has been a major problem for many Wicklow teams so when the one or two scoring threats have been contained the scores have dried up. Despite being 5 to 1 outsiders and despite being behind for the first half the team battled on and hung in there making it difficult for Laois until they turned it around in the second half.
There are many areas to work on but the signs are encouraging. The win last night
throws the fight for second spot wide open but it will be meaningless unless we can win all our remaing games and develop a consistency which we have been lacking over the decades. How many times have we seen a terrific performance followed by a lacklustre display over the years. We have to maintain our focus in games right up to the end of matches. I just hope that the gifting of goals and an easy penalty at the end of the game last night doesn't come back to haunt us as the 2nd place could yet be decided on score difference
Well done to players and management and let this be the beginning of great things to come

Any of Laois, Leitrim, Sligo, Carlow, ourselves and yourselves will definitely go up if they win their remaining games. Shaping up to be a cracker year.

Wicklow would need Laois or Sligo to drop points in order to get promoted otherwise its definitely those two who go up to division three

Gifting a draw to Carlow looks like it might come back to bite us in the bum. Still, we have two major hurdles to jump still. Have Laois and Sligo played yet ? or did they draw first day out ?

So, we have to win all our remaining matches and hope that someone beats either or both of them for us to be in with a chance ? A tall order.
