Best of luck to both teams today. Let's hope the minors can get the job done, it might be tier 3 but a title is on the line and it would be great to be champions. The seniors should have enough to get by Waterford later and book a home preliminary quarter final!

Great win today after a shaky start. Top spot was the bonus. It'll be interesting to see who we get in the next round. No matter who it we draw, it will depend on how the team approaches the game. This team really has 2 ways of playing - poor or very good.

Great win for the team...topped the group couldn't have asked for more. Let's hope for a good home quarter final draw!

Am I correct in thinking that St Pats first team are now going down to division 2?

That's huge if so for the county. The size of the town and the fact the huge expanse of people coming to it (not all GAA heads I know, but more then most places get) hasn't seen Pats pick up or try get a boost to their panel. Wow.

Pats haven't been going too well at juvenile level for a few years now. Not sure if the uncertainty over their future grounds played into that. Sooner the better they get back up to speed. They have always contributed great talent for the county squads.

A great win by our footballers yesterday. This team is inconsistent. If they play to their potential, I think they can compete with any team left in the competition but equally I don't know if they can play consistently enough for long enough to win it or even get to the final. It is the same with promotion to Division 3. I think they have the playing talent but lack the consistency. I suppose majority of county's supporters and team managers can say the same about their teams. Anyway, it was great to finish top of the group as we are through to the quarter finals automatically thanks to players fine win and a late penalty by Laois. This means the squad don't have to play a preliminary quarter final and have an extra week's break. Disappointing result in Tullamore for our minors against Longford. Does any one know if many of the team are eligible for under 17 next year? In relation to a reference another poster stated about Tyrone beating Louth comprehensively in u-20 final. I think this result emphasises the gap between Leinster and Ulster in football. It is hard to figure out how a province with such playing resources struggle against Ulster teams who probably have less resources. The gap shouldn't be as wide but currently I think it is especially with Dublin's decline at all levels.

The gap at i20 wasn't so wide a couple of years ago. In 2022 there was only six points between Kildare and Tyrone and the following year Kildare beat Down in the semi final on the way to winning the All-Ireland

In fairness your county, Kildare, have doing their bit to keep Leinster standards up, but other counties, including ours are not faring so well, Louth and to an extent Meath being exceptions. Some clubs here are going the extra mile with their juveniles but not all, unfortunately.

Can't find definite confirmation anywhere but I'm assuming Wicklow now have home venue for quarter final( ie no neutral venues) and they can't play Offaly or Laois. Anyone know for sure?

Home quarter final in two weeks time is correct. Not sure if the can or can't play Laois and Offaly again but I would assume they can't

Any team who tops their group is through to quarter finals and is guaranteed a home game in their quarter final - Wicklow will be at home in the quarter final weekend after next. I think the quarter final draw is open and not based off previous group pairings - some else might be able to confirm if this is correct.

With the consistent inconsistencies of our lads, it will be a tough slog no matter who we face.

A semi final appearance would be a decent season. Overall you'd think the competition is there for Kildare for the taking really. Outside of maybe Fermanagh nobody is beating them.

If Wicklow Win their next tailtleann cup game, will the club championships hurling and football be put back a week or two?

Their minor footballers gave Rathnew a walkover last night.

A club in turmoil it seems. Where are all good club people gone up there?
