Why would you think that ponga? His son Pat Jnr transferred to Sligo as his Mom (Pat snrs wife) is from Sligo. Do you not believe that a man would like to watch his son play?

He was definitely at one anyways

His son plays for them so probably true.

No it's not. I seen him twice in Markievicz, one after the match against Cavan and the other after Carlow. So it is likely that he was at more matches than I seen him at

Nice victory against the top brass of Connacht. Bit embarrassing for them to have to do a U turn. Now we have to back it up on Wednesday night by beating Mayo. Three years ago Mayo Minors came to Markievicz Park and lost. Sligo also beat Roscommon and Leitrim and finished second resulting in them finishing second to Galway in the round robin table. They played Third place Mayo again for a place in Connacht final against Galway but lost.i don't think there will be much in it on Wednesday night. Hopefully we come out the right side of it

What did people think of the team selection V NY? Seemed like we were missing alot of forwards from the squad and from photos looks like some fringe players were drafted in.

What changes are warranted to start v Roscommon? I think P. Spillane showed his worth when he came on. Along with C. Griffin and C. Marren, they helped us get more competitive on the kickouts as we had been poor before their introduction.

Lineup was all over the place. 2 midfielders playing wing back and full forward. In midfield we had a wing forward and a defender. Then first midfield sub was a full forward. Only when Marren (a midfielder) came in to play in midfield on 65 minutes did we start to win a few possessions. 2 half backs playing in the wing forwards positions. Maybe the mgmt should try playing players in the positions in which they ate comfortable.

Replying To MayoDan:  "Well done on completely missing the point. I said the COE was fine for the Mayo v Galway game since it was due to be a Mayo venue and MacHale park was unavailable at the time. Unfortunately the weather ruined that particular game.

This is different as Sligo are due a home game vs Mayo. Thankfully the correct decision has been reached eventually!"
I missed no point. The view you and others had that Connacht COE was fine for U20 knock out championship games i strongly disagreed with.

Prenty and Co excuse about TV coverage was utter nonsense. Especially as the week before TG4 covered both semi finals in Carrick on Shannon and Sligo.

As for the final this is a situation that should never have occurred, the winner of Sligo and Roscommon was due a home final against Mayo. Its was embarrassing behaviour by Connacht GAA chiefs and like HQ just showed the lack of respect they have for the U20 grade.

Hopefully we get a good quality final on Wednesday evening whereby upwards of 3k can attend and may the best team.

Beginning to have doubts about McEntee's strategy. Two years in and no semblance of a strong midfield being developed. Despite the modern game being all about fitness, flexibility of positions , retaining possession, etc, no team ever progressed without having a least one descent midfielder.

Remember. There isn't one midfielder on the club scene in the county so I don't know where we are going to produce one for the county team. Best option appears to be Spillane

Paul Kilcoyne but he is at wing back and Conan Marren but he seems to be behind 3 fellas who are not midfielders.

I had liked the look of G. Gorman early on in the season but he hasnt featured much since. I still think we have a much stronger team the last year, but I had hoped we would look more assured in areas like our own kickouts. I presume the Roscommon game is at home? Any word on injuries etc?

Best of luck to Sligo u20s in the provincial final. Nice to see the small counties have their day in the sun.
I would like to offer my belated condolences to Sligo GAA, and the family of RedOg Murphy on their tragic loss of a talented player, and a cherished family member.

Much like last week I'm not sure how you pulled a win out of the jaws defeats but it's what you did.

Congratulations and enjoy the celebrations and best of luck in the All-Ireland series.

Delighted for Sligo! They have had their share of heartbreaking defeats in tight games at all grades over the years so it is great to see them come out on the right side this time. Enjoy the celebrations and good luck in the all-Ireland semi.
