Great result is right and unlucky with just coming away with a draw. I was away and couldn't swing it but the attendance figures were very bad. I agree that the CB could have advertised the home game better but hopefully next year they do. One was an historic All - Ireland final appearance in the only genuine knockout competition ( no back or side doors) in the current GAA calendar. The other was a marketing exercise by GAA management which the genuine GAA supporters have seen through and are unwilling to part their money for. Another great performance by a Sligo football team at the weekend. Kildare pushed the Dubs, Sligo drew with Kildare and the Dubs are one of the favourites for the AI. Wouldn't it be some crack if Sligo, Kildare and Roscommon qualified from that group. If the Rossies manage a win against Dublin this weekend, you never know. It will give Sligo confidence going into the Dublin game. I think Sligo and Roscommon have to get it into their heads that they can beat Dublin. Galway are one of top 4/5, maybe actually top two so a hiding from them boys is no shame. Everyone team seems to be doing a serious job on Sean O'Shea this year mainly because Sean is a mile of the pace and form he was at last year. I can't see any of the current U 20 lads making the match squad for any upcoming games. A few are in on the extended panel but I would think it's just an introductory lesson for the moment and they will be in from the start next year. You can't really compare Sam Callinan with our lads because he was with the Mayo seniors all year. He came back for the Mayo U 20 game against us and wasn't at the races at all. He was cleaned. Our young lads are a mile off the S&C for senior football. If last year's U 20 Jack Lavin got his chance, Joe Keaney is on the fringes, Davitt and Deignan were injured. Mc Entee is ruthless. Well whats the plan for Sunday ? Will Roscommon change their keep ball for us ? It's a hard watch when two teams are cancelling each other out. I'm all for Sligo parking the bus but when we have wind advantage in one half surely we can be more adventurous. The leagues have just begun. A busy weekend of action. Molaise Gaels, Curry, St Mary's, Shamrock Gaels and Bunninaden all picked up early wins in Division 1. As expected teams with a lot of county players struggled. Tourlestrane for a team with one county player lost to a shamrock Gaels team with no Evan Lyons, David Quinn, DJ Lyons or Lee Deignan. That is probably the biggest surprise of the weekend. My early Div 1 predictions: Champions: Molaise Gaels Runners up: Shamrock Gaels Relegated: Calry/St Josephs In division 2 DRP, Easkey, Coolaney/Mullinabreena, Eastern Harps all got wins. While St Michael's and St Pats drew. My division 2 predictions: Champions: DRP Runners up: Coolaney/Mullinabreena Relegated: Castleconnor Was anybody at any of the games and saw any strong performances or heard of any? There's two going to be relegated and promoted in leagues. This carry on with 3 points for last 5 rounds is pure daft in my view, pure luck on whether you get the weaker teams first in the league and only get 2 points compared to if ya got them later on. I expect Mary's and Shamrock Gaels to be in league final with Calry definitely to be relegated and joined by Bunninadden or St Farnans. While it was great to see Roscommon doing so well against Dublin a draw wasn't a good result for us. It will mean Dublin will have to step on the gas against us to ensure they top the group. I assume Dublin will beat Kildare and realistically I think that Roscommon will beat us, not be a lot however. The one advantage is that we have an extra week to prepare for the Roscommon game. I rewatched this and you're obviously taking Sean Cavanaghs stupid analysis as a given. When they paused the ball in mid air it was probably 20yards behind the goal. The umpire looks up at when the ball crosses the line that is the moment it is wide or between the posts. I've seen this on the Sunday game before and it's like they just want to create a scene. Shane Curran tweeted after the groups were confirmed that Roscommon would be coming off a beating from Dublin but its all good because then they have a "home banker" against Sligo.
