It's Kerry for our u20s. No reason to fear them. Hopefully it will be played in a sensible venue. I would expect a large Sligo crowd to travel. Our lads have beaten the three big teams in Connacht they'll have no fear of Kerry.

Replying To thedreamer:  "Surely we should be looking for home Connacht final as I'm sure Markievicz Park is well suitable for crowd this year.
It has to be an advantage we should be looking for. The big dogs get to play at home when it is their turn. Savage atmosphere at home"
The attendance for Connacht finals in 2012 and 2015 was 23,000, Markievicz can hold 18,000 at a push so I can't see connaught council allowing Sligo to host connaught finals as would mean losing out on 5,000 ticket sales if it was Sligo and Mayo in the final. Anyone know the attendance in 2010 or 2007 to know if it was similar numbers when Sligo played Roscommon and Galway

And yes this year might not have 18,000 but it sets a precedent for future games and potential missed revenue

Agree with your stats but this year 15k at most i'd say for Connacht final. Surely with Sligo in final, Markievicz able to cater for crowd and Sligo's turn to host Galway... Why not push for it. If we want to be big dogs, we need to push like one. I'm sure Galway fans wouldn't mind a cracking atmosphere in the park as opposed to 1/4 empty Mc hale park.

I wonder does the fixture we didn't fulfil in Covid times in Salthill count as Galway having had their turn to host or does it mean we have to travel the next time?

Tullamore should be the choice but with Kerry involved they nearly always get Munster venues for these games.

You're right there should be no fear of Kerry. 2 goals in first few minutes gave them upper hand. Cork missed a hatful of goal chances, something I'm sure Sligo management will be looking at.

I've just seen on ocean fm that the semi final has been fixed for Saturday the 6th of May in Salthill at 16:45.
I also see the team are holding an open session this coming Saturday.
Salthill is not a bad venue. Good roads from Sligo so I'm sure a good Sligo following will travel. Atleast we aren't being brought all over the country as we had thought might have happened.

On the Senior game I hope we put in a good performance. I'm sure the lads will give it their best shot and we can only see what happens from there. Great to see the progress being made within the county. 3 matches in the All Ireland Series will also bring us on in preparation for next year in Div 3. No reason we can't aim for back to back promotions. Look at Louth.
Sligeach Abú!

Sorry but I don't share your thoughts on the venue. It's a dreadful location on a Saturday evening in Galway. The keeper Carden and Sloyane might be happy as they are used to wind but for every other player it's a nightmare.

Is that the u20 semi final?
Ah yeah I'd agree about Salthill not being ideal. Everyone has to drive through the limited access routes through Galway city to get there.
The likes of Castlebar, Ennis, Limerick don't involve driving through a busy town/city to reach the pitch.

Would sooner play the game in Ennis even though it's further to travel you'd be out of it quicker than Salthill as you pointed out.

It's a funny game to call. Kerry have cruised through Munster where our lads had tough opposition in three games.

Anyone know what's the story with all these walkovers being given? It appears it doesn't matter if it's hurling, football, adult or underage there's nearly 3/4 a week at this stage

Didn't Clare give them a fright? I hope our lads give it 100% and play to their potential, I think if they do that we have a great shot. If we win the U-20 semi and are still in the senior game with 60 mins gone it will be a very successful weekend. Very much looking forward to supporting our lads.

3 big games this weekend. The minors against Roscommon on Friday, U.20 v Kerry on Saturday and the Connacht final on Sunday. The minors need a victory and that will probably be enough to get them into a semi final. After Leitrim's capitulation last week it looks they are gone out of the equation. U 20 have a really tough game on Saturday. With Matt Henry out and now Dillon Walsh gone due to illness it will take a serious shift to beat Kerry. We will probably outnumber them in the stands and hopefully this energy will feed into the players. They are a really good team and have lifted morale within the county and I think they will win. Finally it's the Seniors day out on Sunday. Hard to see anything but a Galway win but hopefully it's a stepping stone to bigger and better things for us. Remember Meatloaf's song, 2 out of 3 ain't bad. If we get 2 out of 3 we will be in a great place on Monday morning.

Looks like it's Tyrone, Westmeath and loser of Derry and Armagh for group stages ;-)

I like your style Muscles! I just hope our lads do not over celebrate a famous Connacht championship win! Need to knuckle down for the all ireland series

James Donlon back? would be one of Sligo's better players though missed out on the last two games because injury.
