Replying To carlo:  "Just to clarify the Carlow Co.Board asked Silgo to change either the time or date but Silgo refused. Coke Park would be willing to compromise but both counties have to agree to change. Makes no sense to me. Couldn't they have played it at 3pm & the Silgo players & supporters could have watched the Ireland game before heading back West as I'm sure they will be having food somewhere in Carlow anyway. Will be very small crowd at game now"
Didn't know this, disappointing from Sligo CB if that is the case

To be honest I could not care less what time the game is played at as long as we get maximum points. The reality is that it's not as simple as just moving the game by 2 hours. At a guess Sligo will leave at 9.30 for a game at 5. Food will have to be factored in along with another rest stop. Brining forward the game by 2 hours now means leaving at 7.30 and all itenary needs to be changed, for example the place where they were stopping for food might now not be able to facilitate them and if they had a place in mind to do a light kick about they might lose that also. I'm sure the Mgt appreciate the supporters wanting to see the rugby and they didn't refuse to cooperate for no reason . Their plans were set out weeks ago, maybe Croke Park should have thrown an eye on the rugby fixture list when drawing up their own fixtures. As I said at the start all I want are the 2 points.

Awful pity about the throw-in time, but Sligo Co Board didn't agree to move by a couple of hours.
Definitely will affect the attendance.
A must win for Sligo but a very difficult game for them. Carlow, despite all their injuries can win this game.

Didn't stop Tipperary & Offaly moving their game from 6pm to 2pm which is a 4 hour change....no common sense used at all

Big Deal. Offaly/Tipp are side by side. According to google maps Sligo Town to Carlow is 3 hrs 20 mins. Then add on traveling within Sligo.
As I said previously all we are going down there for is the points

That definitely wasn't for the rugby, offaly players requested it after what most be a very challenging week

Two neighbouring counties playing each other in Thurles....250km between Carlow and Sligo town so not comparable situations.

Massive weekend for Sligo football, all the best to Summerhill. Absolute warrior of a team. Omagh are a very good team but beatable. There are gaps in there defensive set up but we have to win the middle third to make it count. I see them bringing serious intensity early so we have to ride that out and I could see it being very similar to the Connacht Final. Hopefully a huge crowd goes travelling. It is great to see the unity with all the Sligo Schools rowing in behind Summerhill.

All the best to the senior footballers as well, never an easy game in Carlow but this squad is more than capable of winning. Hopefully they start Mark Walsh who was different class the last day. The management are getting closer to the team I picked at the start of the league but are doing so by default so won't be getting much credit from me.

If we win, hoping Laois and Wexford win as we would be promoted with a week to spare.

Tipp and Offaly border each other. It's a nice spin from Sligo to Carlow.

It's around 100km from Thurles to Tullamore so they might be neighbouring counties but its not exactly over the road. If the game was on Sunday it would have been fixed for 2pm anyway so don't see how 3pm on Saturday is a problem especially as Carlow Co.Board gave them over a weeks notice to change. Anyway doesn't matter now as its going ahead at 5. Ill be there on Saturday & best of luck to our lads who can spring a surprise in this one. To our Silgo visitors enjoy your trip to Carlow( but not too much)

Hard to credit this fixture is set for 5pm on Saturday when the majority of Irish people will be enjoying another sport. Neanderthals wouldn't have made this decision.

Oh really. Please explain in detail of your inside information of the reason a 2pm throw in rather than 6pm has eased the difficulties that the players would have had by playing at the original time.

Omagh CBS 6-16 Summerhill College, Sligo 3-8

An awful hammering for the poor Sligo lads. Hope they'll recover from it, to go kick again.

I'm not sure how you seen Omagh as beatable? One look at the way they dismantled Naas was enough proof that it would be a bridge too far for Summerhill but credit to the Sligo school was achievement in itself to reach the final.

I'd expect Sligo to be promoted with a game to spare and then need to build on it by reaching the Connacht senior football final.

To mention yesterday's Hogan cup final you really have to give credit to an awesome team from Omagh. They played outstanding football and the way they won the semi final and final so handsomely would makes you think that their team would have beaten an amalgamation of all the schools in the country. The wait goes on for our first win in this competition. Summerhill lads will have learned a lot over the year and had the privilege of playing in Croke Park . Some of them will go back to the Sligo set up at either minor or U.20. They are young and will bounce back fairly fast but I think the first round match for the U.20 team may come too fast to have them settled into a new team. Very disappointing that one lad will be putting his Gaelic on hold for a while as he tries soccer . He will be back. The stats on young players making a living at soccer is very small and diminishing each year.

Excellent results in Carlow. Sit back now enjoy the rest of the rugby and tomorrow watch Laois v Leitrim and Wicklow and Wexford slog it out. I think Laois will win and also Wicklow

Wicklow and Wexford finished a draw, we will still need something from Leitrim game

Maths isn't my strongest subject but if Laois get a win or draw tomorrow then we're promoted right?

We would also need Laois to then beat London which you should take as a given
