I see the opening weekend to be streamed games are listed on the Sligo GAA website.

Friday Aug 1st - Shamrock Gaels v Coolera/Strandhill and
Saturday Aug 2nd - St Molaise Gaels v St Marys.

Should be 2 crackers. All 4 made the semi finals last year and will want to get off to a strong start. Its hard to predict any outcomes without knowing player availability and form can be a lot different from league to championship.

Replying To Sligonian:  "So what you are saying is a Henry impressed more and if you are basing without personal allegiances he would get it. But because of personal relationships the CB are going to manipulate the backroom team to give it to Dessie. So the same county board that replaced Dessie after he won the u20 and give it to Henry, are going to shaft Henry to give the senior job to Dessie. Are we back in 1972? The best man should get it full stop.

Gerry McGowan will have definitely went for the role so I am surprised its not a 3 horse race. They maybe looking at getting Gerry to go in with another management team."
Gerry McGowan will be coaching an inter-county team in 2026. It will not be Sligo.

Put your name forward for Chair or Treasurer at the next County Convention because ya clearly have all the answers. Why not do both, and while you're at it sure put yourself in the managers job or just give it to all anyone who has done something outside the county and suddenly you always said they should be involved. Perhaps ask Molaise Gaels to field as the county team going forward, then and maybe only then will ya ever be happy."
Then when he gets beaten he will completely change the subject and /or change names and post again

I hope PK and POC get the job like that other very 'knowledgable' poster suggested.

Really looking forward to club championship...I think it's probably the hardest one to call in many years, several teams will genuinely feel they have a chance, with new rules hopefully we will see games better attended

Sligoman1234, I was just trying to get you to see the limits of your thinking and what is possible and I made plenty of points which I feel are valid and fair. You did say I was away with the birds which I would consider much worse than anything I said so if you are going to give it, you have to be able take a little bit back. Are you really that attached to your belief that Sligo can't afford the best people? It maybe our current reality but we can change and improve on that.

If given the opportunity I would love to be involved in Sligo GAA in the future.

Excellent news. Great to finally have good news. The fact that no one has ever heard of them is irrelevant. Have you anyone lined up for Mayo or Roscommon?

All the best to the Sligo Minor ladies team this weekend in the All Ireland B Final against Clare. 2.30pm throw in at Bekan on Saturday. Hopefully plenty of Sligo support turns up. Sligeach abu.

The rumblings around the county is that there's a huge difference in money between both camps. Money has a habit of always rearing it's ugly head. We don't have money but are nicely in debt so it's going to make things a little more difficult.

Replying To NewSligofan:  "Interviews were held over the weekend. It is a 2 horse race. Horse 1 impressed most. It looked like he was the chosen one and he was to be given the nod yesterday. But we all know Sligo GAA doesn't work like that. Horse 2 is wanted more by certain people at the top table and they are trying to tweak his backroom team so he can get it. Don't be surprised if one of the horses pull out over the next 48 hours."
Horse 2 is going to win wearing J.P. McManus' colours.

Thought this manager fiasco would have been confirmed by now. Anyway earlier in the week Dessie was offered the job. Gerry McGowan was originally part of his team but pulled out when O'Hara wanted joint manager position. Can't see who is going to be credible coach now.

Fiasco is a bit harsh. Other counties haven't even got their submissions for the job yet. Think Paul Higgins is on the coaching ticket?

County Board meeting on Monday so I imagine it'll be announced then officially but sure everyone knows about it now. Bit concerned about how the dynamic between the two head men will go but backroom seems decent enough. Would have McGowan before O'Hara tbh. In any event wishing them all the best of luck.

I have no idea what you mean by that post. The chairman said a month ago that the manager would be in place by the start of the championship and it looks likely now. In these instances there's a certain amount of bullshit, rumours, counter rumours, innuendo, and plain lies doing the rounds . There's always a bit of horse trading to hammer out a deal . Don't discount another twist before the mgt are ratified on Monday night. A lot of the people mentioned in the winning enclosure are tied to club teams at the moment so they won't/can't give full commitment for the next few months.
