Good luck Louth. Ardee is awash with Red and White this weekend - mid-Louth and Cooley are the spiritual homes of Louth football.

Can it happen????

I suppose the Kildare game raised some doubts about Dublin but Louth have been far too open today.

Louth playing without a proper established goal keeper is crazy stuff. Converted outfield players put in goals at inter county level or any level is asking for trouble..

Same in Armagh/Derry match, Rafferty's an outfield player playing in goals, whereas Cluxton, Morgan and Beggan are goalies first but who are comfortable on the ball.

Replying To hyperache:  "Good luck to Louth in the Leinster Final, no reason to fear Dublin, they've been so up and down all year. They're difficult to beat at Croke Park, but if Kildare can put it up to them, so can Louth. Clare had them in serious trouble too in the league.

I hope Louth keep it tight early on, and give themselves a shot with 20 mins to play, have seen it so often where a Kildare or Meath team go a game against Dublin full of optimism, and it's 2-7 to 0-3 after 20 minutes. I'm sure Micky Harte will have them well drilled anyway.

Dublin will probably win, probably something similar to the league final. But best of luck"
Louth wouldn't have the same quality of player as Kildare. Today shows the gulf that exists in Leinster between Dublin and the rest. Kildare are probably the only county with a real chance of bridging that gap

Oh. What we are all waiting for is the rematch, You can have it in Glen's back garden.

Hard luck to Louth. Unlike the flourbags they are on an upward curve.

Bring it on!!! Can't wait. I'm sure Louth people don't need any of your condescetion and "sympathy"..... 3 All-Irelands in 5 years for Kildare teams... Yeah we really are on a downward curve...

Not going to pretend to be an expert or criticise but based on stats we obviously had an issue with winning or retaining our own kick outs. It didn't take an expert to see that.

Dublin really went after our kick-outs and pushed up very high on them forcing the long kickout.
We had an overload in the centre where Prach was punting the ball but Dublin broke everything and also were much sharper to the breakdown.

In the first half, Dublin won 10 out of 17 Louth kick-outs and scored 1-5...all on quick transitions
Up to that turnaround it had been competitive

Over the full game on our own kick-outs
Louth lost 17/30 Kick-Outs. Conceded 2-9 on on those 17 lost.

On a positive
Dublin lost 8/19 kickouts to Louth. Possibly their lowest win/loss in over ten years of championship. So Louth had a good success rate here.

So, again being no expert, we would theoretically see a massive improvement if we could up that percentage of winning our own Kickouts.

I don't know the percentage of turnovers we had against us but it was fairly high I would say where we didn't get the simple pass off or we're stopped in our tracks.

On a positive
I saw somewhere that Louth turned Dublin over 7 times in the first 10 minutes of the game! That's more than most first halfs for Dublin!!!

I think Louth will take a lot of lessons out of that game.

One others thing.
Our defensive setup went to the dogs because we had so many in the overload at midfield for the kickouts in the second half that when they broke down Dublin attacked with afterburners and we had nobody at home. Another learning maybe.

You were the one slagging them and claiming that Kildare are somehow better,

You will be on the end of a similar tanking in a few weeks time.

I agree with everything Benjani says.
Dublin really targeted the Louth kick-out yesterday and utterly dismantled it. To-date, Plan A - the short kick-out worked well for Louth, Plan B typically involved finding Sharkey in space, and Plan C was a long kick-out where Early and Tommy were fielding well. Yesterday, Dublin pushed 4 players up on the Louth full-back line, had some-one constantly covering Sharkey...thus ruling out Plan A and B. This meant Plan C, and here Louth frequently had more players than Dublin in mid-field for the long kick-out, but Dublin broke the ball and won all the breaks (and Early and Tommy didn't have a great game). Coupled with this, Louth were kicking in to a stiff breeze in the first half, thus making it even more difficult to defend the kick-out. I do think Louth could've avoided bunching in mid-field for the long kick-outs, but i guess if you have a system it is hard to deviate from the system
Second half push up on the Dublin kick-out, looks impressive when it works, but leaves you utterly exposed at the back, and subject to runners breaking from mid-field.
Thought Mulroy was fantastic, Sharkey played well (up to an obvious injury for first Dublin goal), and others drifted in an out. In fairness they battled on manfully to the end, but the gulf in class was pretty massive (as it has been for Leinster Finals for the last 8 years or so).
Imperative they don't let the heads drop, and beat Cork the next day.

There are many disappointed Louth fans this morning that the Utopia yearned for in the passionate "Lá Lú" post did not come to pass on Sunday evening. This should not overshadow the magnificent year that we have had and the glorious days that we have enjoyed with this team. Their disappointment must be enormous as well after such a big beating.
The next few weeks are critical, critical that all stay strong together and prepare well for the Cork match in Navan. A victory over Cork (Kerry and Mayo wont be easy) should ensure our passage into the Last 12 of the Sam Maguire and who knows where that might lead us. Lú abú go deo.

I have seen all 3 Louth championship matches and realistically Louth have not improved, Westmeath collapsed in the second half in Navan and let Louth take control of a game they had won, the Offaly match was 50/50, Offaly are a very average side and Louth got it really hard to beat them, indeed Offaly had a great chance at the death to win that one, then to loose by 21 points to Dublin was a major reality check. Louth are miles off, they have an ultra defensive game plan and work hard at it, their commitment cannot be faulted, but they are no where near the top table of Gaelic football. if Mulroy got injured again they have very few other top quality players.

Dublin & Kerry on their good days are miles clear of everyone else bar a few like Galway,Derry,Mayo,Tyrone when they have their best days.
Hard to see anyone other than Dublin or Kery winning All Ireland.

They're certainly favourites, but either of them can be beaten by the likes of the other teams you have mentioned. Tyrone showed in 2021 what an even less-fancied team can achieve.

Agree with that.

Bar Mulroy, Downey, Sharkey must of of the Louth squad are at Tailteann cup level.

The standard of defending was atrocious, and the kick out strategy would be something you'd see at Junior B club level.

Dublin could of had about 10 goals yesterday but I think they took a few points instead at the end.

I still think if Louth regroup they can give Cork a right rattle at home because the Kerry and Mayo games could be more hammerings.
