Aaron Doherty looked lively when introdouced in the Ulster final. I wonder will we see more of him on Sunday? He certainly knows where the posts are.

Who would you drop to take Hugh in? I'd be taking Thompson in for Brennan."
Yea would start Hugh instead of caolan. I feel if we a good hour out of Hugh and get caolan on for the last 15 when the game is more open. I feel Thompson will start for Brennan too. Hopefully all the injuries have cleared up.. hopefully Sunday is the day that we show we are a decent team.

Your an optimist if you think he'll be posted anywhere inside 45 metres line, out own 45 more likely. As we saw in the ulster final we have a management team who are unyielding in their philosophy of how we play and haven't got the game intelligence to change during game time....and allied to that we have alot of lads who missing in the big games too

I see on the predictions thread almost everyone is tipping Armagh, they will have massive support in Clones it will be like a home game for them, if we can manage to beat them it will give the squad some boost,
win or lose I want to see us go for it, I'm sick to the back teeth of this game management stuff nowadays, no wonder people won't go to games.
You'll hear players after games saying 'we stuck to the game plan' etc. etc. it's a 'game' of football it's supposed to be entertaining, not some planned borefest like that muck of a game we had with Derry.
Wishing Declan Bonner and all involved the best of luck on Sunday, get stuck into them and go and try and win the game.
Any of us that can get to the game make some noise and bring some flags, we'll be outnumbered but victory will be all the sweeter if it comes, I'd like to see the Armagh fans heading for the exits early like they did in Ballybofey.

Definitely. Game plan and possession is order of day. Players are afraid to kick a high 50/50 ball into the full forward line. If a defender wins it, its a turnover and possession given away stat. The stats are usefull after a game to a point, but a long ball into forward line should never be counted in the stats. The fear off losing possession needs to be taken away for the player.

Yeah we have a big battle on our hands to stay in this year's Championship. Armagh never got going against us in Ballybofey and they'll be mad keen to set the record straight this weekend. I have a (hopeful) feeling that we'll see a much better game than what we witnessed in the Ulster final. Armagh play aggressively and they don't hang around if an early ball is on into their full forward line. It will hopefully be a more open game and will allow our players to express themselves a lot more than last time out.

As improved and all as Armagh are, I still feel pound for pound we have better players. But we said that against Derry too. It'll be up to every man who crosses the white line to go out and prove it.

Just on the tactical stuff....the best game I saw this year (and possibly for a long time before that) was the Hogan Cup final between Naas CBS and St Brendan's Killarney on St. Patrick's Day last. It really was a throwback game where both teams just went at it hammer and tongs looking for the win. These lads were all around 17 or 18 and the major takeaway I took from the game was that I hoped they enjoyed it. It was probably the last game they'd ever play where they weren't over-coached and drilled into "the process" etc.

I'm not that naive to suggest that all teams should just take to the field and hope for the best. But there has to be some room for expression and spontaneity too. With rising costs a major factor as well, supporters will start voting with their feet and staying at home if the product is dull to watch. I know that some people were intriuged by the tactical battle in the Ulster final. Fair enough. But let's call a spade a spade here, it was dire to watch.

Just last weekend two of the heavyweight clubs in the county played out a 1-4 - 1-1 in a LEAGUE match!!! Christ above. I am sorry, I do not care how tactical it was but major alarm bells should be ringing when two of the premier clubs in the county cannot muster more than 6 scores between them. I do not have the answers as to how this can be remedied. I don't think rule changes are the answer either. I honestly believe that it is up to coaches up and down the county to be brave and start to change their mindsets significantly. But in the ego-centric world of "top coaching", where winning is all that matters I won't be holding my breath.

Not true. A family member is a season ticket and he's in Gerry Arthur. Once your e mail comes out, you have to get in fast. He says most of the central seats in Gerry Arthur wasn't available but there were 4 sections in Gerry Arthur which were available. I fully understand the good tickets are going too be kept for players families. County board officials and sponsors.. weather good for Sunday so pat Mc grane has better more central seat s available.

I disagree regarding Hugh McFadden, his lack of pace is a major issue at the moment, and the key question is what does he bring to the table that we don't already have in the starting lineup?

I think Caolan McGonigle and Jason McGee are pound for pound better midfielders, if i had to start Hugh McFadden, I would make him Center half forward, especially if playing a physical defensive team.

As for Michael Murphy, I think its smarter to rotate Murphy, he isn't the live wire type who will cause mayhem inside anymore, and his scoring isn't as sharp. I think our forwards in general need to be more mobile and pull the opposition defense all over the place.

Youre all mixed up again Rory, the rest of us are playin 2nd fiddle to your status on here as being the #1 warrior, yodler what ever u want to call yourself . Anthony Molloy outwardly must play good soldier , because of his cult status , secretly he must cringe at where Bonner has left Donegal football. What do you think in the event of the wrong result will Bonner have the concession speech ready when he's blabbering to the media after the game!

I am a Season Ticket holder, and I was in like a shot when the email arrived at 12:28. The only tickets available to me were the Pat McGrane, and not only that, the lower seats in the Sections. The higher lettered seats I would surmise are reserved for Armagh, or have been allocated to the players for their family members.

Has there been any word on injuries? I was very worried about Bán in ET of the Ulster final. I've heard since that Mogan, Murphy, Langan, J.McGee and Hugh McFadden were all struggling but it's all hearsay.

Hard for Murphy's scoring to be as sharp when he's playing full back and sweeper roles for us against Derry. and also hitting 45's when he is carrying some type of injury, give the man a break.
If Murphy is in at FF he'll cause panic and mayhem in the defence, he doesn't even have to catch it.
He has soldiered long enough for us doing the work of 4 men, play him in the position he was born for and let the rest of them step up to the mark out he field.

Tell Murphy that......he is the one playing himself out there. Any one that I spoke to that was at the ulster final said the Donegal sideline were gesturing for Murphy to go into the square and he ignored it. I seen it first hand on multiple occasions during Rory's term as manager him telling him to go in but he wouldn't. Murphy will be known as Donegal's greatest ever footballer and in the conversation for greatest ever full forward in the game, but if he does his own thing again against Armagh, Donegal are screwed.
