Tang win by a point 1-7 to 0-9. Lead by 4 at HT but MP reeled them in slowly and were were level in closing stages until the late winner. Didnt see it but MP seemingly had a high wide count, particularly in 1st half. Well done Tang.

Congratulations to Tang especially when they are celebrating the 50 anniversary of winning their first
intermediate title.

Well it was a tight game in th end.
My thoughts are:
Milltownpass wasteful in front of goals in first 15mins. Missing easy shots. Tang Controlled the game but were only 2 points up at water break.
Mtpass got level but Tang ahead again and got a well worked goal.
Ref in my opinion gave Tang easier frees especially in the last 15mins. The free to win the game was very poor and even the Linesman went to overrule the ref. And how the ref missed a clear pick up off the ground in the last 30 seconds in front of Tang Goal.
Tang marginally the better team and will stay up Senior.

Hard on Milltownpass who have reached three of the last four finals. Certainly no guarantees next year with Shandonagh back contesting Intermediate and surely heavily favoured to win Intermediate. Tang probably best equipped to compete at Senior level, their backs don't concede much especially goals, Mick Galvin not the youngest keeper for Senior but vastly experienced, they're a physically strong side, the likes of the two Coughlans, Ronan Hanley, two Rocks, Adam Neary and Tommy Lennon have youth and mobility on their side. It's a very competitive championship with Malachy's, Milltown, Milltownpass, Castledaly, Rochfortbridge and Shandonagh in group 1 next year.

Miltownpass were very poor throughout, not taking anything away from tang they played a patient short game which probably suited them and the conditions.
There midfield looked slow and cumbersome but they work rate of the rest of there team overcame any struggled.
Miltownpass seemed to have no attacking plan, no ideas, all very slow. All the talk about Kelly miltownpass never got him into space at all. O Reilly at full back was a weird one. If they didn't have found they were well bet.

Well done to Tang, knocking on the door for the last number of years and have finally got their reward. A lot of strong young players on their team mixed with a few experienced oldies such as the goalkeeper Galvin and center forward Bannon to steady the ship. Should be able for Senior next year, looks to be a good management team with them.
Hard to call intermediate next year, Castledaly, Miltownpass, Malachys & Shandonagh have to be the ones to watch, if castledaly can go the season with less injuries than this year, have to be the favorites I'd say.

Milltownpass distinctively fortunate to beat Rochfortbridge in quarter final this year, the most ardent Milltownpass supporter would agree that they stole victory that day. Surely Rochfortbridge are contenders based on that display and an unbeaten championship campaign in division 2?

I would throw Tubberclair in the mix i seen them against the bridge and it was much a 50/50 game they were without marquee players last year like Coffey, Tighe and the older Curley if they can get them lads back in they would be contenders.
Malachys could fall away again you just don't know with them. Could be difficult for miltownpass to come back but they are relatively young. Castledaly squad is still an issue. Shandonagh will need to hold onto everyone aswell if to do well. Another exciting championship.

Tang were well worth their win. They were the better team overall. In particular in the first half. They took the goal well and it was a huge factor in the game. Miltownpass despite the poor start came back very well and it could have gone either way when Miltownpass got level with ten minutes to go. At that stage the Tang goalkeeper gave a kickout straight to a Miltownpass man after having nothing to really do all game. If the Miltownpass man was a bit more wide to it he was in for a goal. Tangs backs defended very well and Duncan at fullback had a great battle with Coyne and although Coyne had a good game and was Miltownpass main scoring threat Duncan played very well also and was the main man at the back for Tang. Coughlan was a big loss when he went off early in the second half injured. He appeared to be the go to man in attack and when he went off Tang missed his runs and good play on the ball. It was a great score for Tang to win it with the free and it was a score worthy of winning any final. How they get on in Leinster will all depend how seriously they want to take it really but you can't blame them if they are celebrating for a few weeks after winning it for the first time after so long ; )

Tang out against Kilcock of Kildare this weekend in Leinster Championship. Westmeath clubs don't have a great record in this. You would imagine Kilcock are a strong outfit like any of those North Kildare town clubs with a big pick and good resources. Tang are down as the home team but it doesn't say where it is being played.

That's an interesting venue. It's a wonder it's not in Tang seeing it's only up the road from Tubberclaire anyway. Good to see it on Iarmhi TV too

Yeah looking at it Kilcock were better prepared and were a physically stronger team. Tang didn't know how to play with the extra man and they looked like they had no game plan in the second half. They did well in the first half and were leading at the first water break. They were only down by a goal at half time. Saying that they will be more than happy with their year. I agree about them in senior. They have good experience playing division 1 league football the last few years and won't fear any of the teams in group 2 of the senior championship
