Thats unlikely to 4 semi finalists, Killoe and Colmcille will prob be 1 and 2 on their side of the group so Abbey are going to be playing one of them in the q-final.

Is there not a chance that Killoe can be passed out by dromard, if dromard beat carrickedmond and killoe lose to colmcille in the final round or does head to head rule out my prediction. If so the potential of Colmcille v Mullineachta and Killoe v Abbeylara along with Clonguish v Dromard and Rathcline v Carrickedmond/Granard looks like a great quarter final weekend

Killoe have Dromard on head to head if both finish on same points. Dromard could possibly overtake Colmcille if they finish on same points as they drew. Presume it would go to score difference then.

Killoe cant be caught in second because they won the head to head. Colmcille can be passed with a 5 point swing if they lose and Dromard win. Who would they rather meet, abbey, mull or the rats? botheyesclosed (Longford) - Posts: 132 - 21/08/2025 14:12:12 2632990 Link 0 |
Head to head means Dromard can't finish above Killoe if Dromard win and Killoe lose. However if Killoe win and Dromard also win and finish with a better score difference than Colmcille, they overtake Colmcille into 2nd.

There's been some great performances across the senior and intermediate games so far, hopefully solan will call all and more importantly hopefully the players are able to commit. Rockshorecider (Longford) - Posts: 69 - 25/08/2025 11:23:54 2633481 Link 0 |
Definitely great to see Shane Kenny, Daire O'Brien, Fergal Sheridan all performing well, size and power at midifeld is something Longford were missing. Who else has impressed so far?

Why is the last round in group B of the Intermediate Championship on separate nights? If Kenagh beat Cashel tonight, what's stopping Ballymahon and Ballymore from 'coming to an agreement' on their game Friday night? Should the 2 games not be played same night, same time, just like the Group A games? Spinx (Longford) - Posts: 1379 - 28/08/2025 16:17:01 2633962 Link 0 |
Doesn't matter now ......if 3 teams finish level, does it go down to score difference? If it does, then Cashel are through and Ballymahon will have to beat Ballymore by at least 7 points, if my calculations are right. Ballymore +11 Cashel +8 , can't get any worse. Ballymahon -2 Spinx (Longford) - Posts: 1379 - 28/08/2025 23:13:19 2634023 Link 0 |
Have you heard yourself? When was there ever synchronized starts in club games in Longford for a results based reason? And have you ever been in a dressing room before? Can you imagine a manager telling the team, "right lads, we have arranged this result with the opposition". What do you think the reaction would be from all 25-35 people in the dressing room when one of them eventually goes on to lose in the competition? Go back and pick another rabbit hole to look down.

I think a shortage of referees has made it nearly impossible to fit all games into one weekend and play them at the same time. It would work better if the senior matches were played one weekend and the intermediate and junior played separate weekends to the senior. It would allow better coverage of the games with the amount of break weekends there has been in the group stages it is definitely possible to at least give the intermediate some stand alone weekends on it's own, even if it can't be done for every round. Would take pressure off officials and allow supporters go to more matches Clonbonnyrabbitt (Longford) - Posts: 78 - 29/08/2025 13:06:08 2634083 Link 0 |
Carrickedmond to beat dromard. Rockshorecider (Longford) - Posts: 69 - 29/08/2025 13:32:10 2634086 Link 0 |
Killoe and Mostrim played out a very convenient result in the 2020 championship. Some so called supporters could not contain their joy on social media

I see that Carrickedmond has made the QF at Granard's expense. B&G (Longford) - Posts: 390 - 30/08/2025 12:54:58 2634224 Link 0 |
Tinfoil hat conspiracy claptrap aside... Ballymahon certainly pulled it out of the fire last night. Fair play. Hard on Ballymore but thems the breaks. LongfordgaaAbú (Longford) - Posts: 631 - 30/08/2025 14:07:40 2634236 Link 0 |
Clonguish were very impressive last night and are defo the team to beat. My first time to see Rats though and was very very disappointed after the hype about them. You can forget them winning the championship. maximus02 (Longford) - Posts: 217 - 31/08/2025 09:30:19 2634301 Link 0 |
