It's exciting new format one group of ten and top two in semis and next 4 teams after go to play offs for semis. You could see the likes of a Gortletteragh or melvin gaels getting an automatic place to the semis if they get a lucky draw (ie Gortletteragh, Dromahair Manor, Melvin Gaels being the weaker teams) . That being said saying though they could get St Marys Mohill Ballinamore Fenagh and have a very tough year. Hard to know if will rly benefit all teams or improve leitrim football but it will definitley bring a wow factor to the championship and get ppl on the edge of their seats. southleitrim_mafia (Leitrim) - Posts: 110 - 29/06/2022 14:51:58 2428656 Link 0 |

I really hope they dont go with 3 groups of 3 for Junior b championship. ino its not the top of everyones list of priorities when it comes to leitrim football. But giving the fringe players of most cubs only two guaranteed championship games in the height of summer isnt good enough. This could only be 1 games as theres usually games conceded at this level. How are fringe players meant to impress there first team management and get onto first teams when they only have a guaranteed two games. southleitrim_mafia (Leitrim) - Posts: 110 - 30/06/2022 10:32:57 2428766 Link 0 |
2 or 3 teams too many in the junior A championship, most of the smaller clubs 2nd team cannot compete with 1st string teams. next year it will only be 8 teams

Anyone attend any league games over the weekend and if so what team or players stood out? Champotime18 (Leitrim) - Posts: 435 - 03/07/2022 21:05:37 2429516 Link 0 |
I was at the ballinaglera and fenagh game. I have heard so much about the ballinaglera coach PJ Keane I said I wanted to have a look at how his team set up and played etc. I was a little disappointed to be honest as they seemed flat and disjointed. I am sure he felt let down by the players but from what I hear he will demand a response and there could be a backlash in the next game.

Power ranking for senior Champotime18 (Leitrim) - Posts: 435 - 05/07/2022 21:13:32 2429988 Link 0 |
definitely a bit generous to the neddies considering they were nearly relegated last year. id have them 5th or 6th at a push, glera and kiltubrid slightly ahead but perhaps last year was a fluke, the inter championship is notoriously hard to predict.

I would probably agree with your senior rankings. I dont expect the senior table to look like this though. For example a aughawillan could draw the top 4 teams and end up tenth and likewise a Melvin Gaels could get a lucky draw an end up finishing first to third. The final table standings before the knockouts wont be a fair reflection of who is actually the best senior club 1-10. That being said I think it's a good format and will be very exciting

Super news that Andy is staying on. Delighted to hear it. But solan may be going. So our assistant manager is good enough to be mayo manager!! howdareu (USA) - Posts: 220 - 06/07/2022 11:16:49 2430040 Link 0 |
Yea I would agree the new format it's hard to tell how it will go. It will be exciting for all teams with a draw each weekend. Teams can really only concentrate on one game at a time as their will be no clear path to who you may face in the knockout games.

Hopefully Solan doesn't get the mayo job tbh. I think he is crucial to leitrim and Andy over the next 2-3 years. In an ideal world for leitrim they will stay in charge of leitrim until the mayo job comes up again and they could be in line for it then.

Even if he doesn't get the Mayo job who is to say that he won't be poached for another position by the new Mayo management team? In all fairness Solan probably should be the Leitrim manager but we all know why Moran is. Leitrim without Solan would be a complete disaster and if we've any hope of progessing in 2023, Solan has to stay.

Dunno how u can have Leitrim Gaels so high. They will flake in a big game. Zucker (Leitrim) - Posts: 150 - 07/07/2022 10:13:18 2430213 Link 0 |
This power ranking thing is silly anyway. What metrics are used for it? Or is it just random guessing

I'd have the intermediate more like. 1. Allen Gaels 2. Aughnasheelin 3. Kiltubrid 4. Ballinaglera 5. Drumkeerin 6. Aughavas 7. Drumreilly 8. Bornacoola 9. Annaduff 10. Mohill (2nd) southleitrim_mafia (Leitrim) - Posts: 110 - 07/07/2022 11:38:06 2430257 Link 0 |

It's just ranking who in your opinion are the strongest teams in senior and intermediate from 1-10
