Replying To Weaternpro:  "Has anybody else noticed the poor Championship Coverage in the Oberver? While I know it's not easy getting people to every ground abit of equal treatment of every grade wouldn't go a miss"
Like all newspapers, staffing numbers in the Observer aren't what they were and maybe the budget doesn't go far enough to pay for more match coverage, even for the freelancers that used to be a feature at many games.

They probably need to go to some kind of online subscription model to finance better coverage (they'd probably get it it back in increased sales, the interest in the club championships is probably higher than it ever was).

Still, it wouldn't take much to put the latest tables up. I know we can get them on the leitrimgaa website but a lot of older people can't access that.

The livetsream and updates coverage in this county is nothing short of a disgrace, i was given the clubber season pass for christmas and it is a novelty . Been able to watch a host of games from our neighbouring counties longford , sligo , roscommon and it is brilliant coverage . now beleive me , i am no tech expert and understand the broadband issue in places like cloone and drumkeerin etc but surely there is somone that could surely at least commentate a few games . It wouldnt have to be big senior games as i know the county board want to bring a crowd to them . But surely many people would enjoy watching the likes of a local rivalry junir game eg aughavas aughnasheelin ???

With all due respect to the two teams how many would pay for a stream of Aughavas and Aughnasheelin. Would you get 40 people? I doubt it. It wouldn't pay to have anyone broadcasting it.

It has always been that way.

Predictions for this weekend

Senior
Aughawillian v Glencar Manor
This is as close to a knockout game that you can get. The winner should secure a quarter-final spot, and the loser will have to win a much more difficult last game to survive. Manor has been excellent so far and should edge this.
Manor by 3

Leitrim Gaels v Mary's
The championship is not going to plan for Mary's. A loss here, and they face Ballinamore in a must win game to avoid a shock appearance in a relegation final. Leitrim Gaels is safely into the knockouts, and Mary's needs are greater.
Mary's by 1

Ballinamore v Melvin Gaels
Melvin Gaels has struggled in their return to Senior. Ballinamore needs the points and should be too strong.
Ballinamore by 8

Fenagh v Mohill
Mohill has been so inconsistent. Keith Beirne's free taking saved them from a big loss last week. Fenagh haven't put their stamp on the championship yet. Now is their chance.
Fenagh by 3

Intermediate
Annaduff v Dromahair
Annaduff should make home advantage count here.
Annaduff by 4

Gortletteragh v Carrigallen
Gortletteragh played well against a very strong Allen Gaels team in the 1st round. The concession of soft goals hurt them. Carrigallen are struggling to put 60mins of football together but will fancy their chances against their neighbours.
Gortletteragh by 6

Ballinaglera v Drumkeerin
Home advantage will help Ballinaglera, but Drumkeerin has been playing the better football.
Drumkeerin by 5

Kiltubrid v Bornacoola
Kiltubrid were comfortable 12 point winners when these teams met in the league a few weeks ago. The return of Shane Mallon to the Bornacoola team can't be overstated. I think home advantage might just swing this.
Kiltubrid by 2

St Mary's B v Allen Gaels
I think Allen Gaels is a match for Saint Mary's first team. Minus 18 senior players, this could be a tough day out for St Mary's B.
Allen Gaels by 15

Long way to go yet ,it's Allen Gaels to lose as for Fenagh they usually lose to the eventual winners in the semi,Lady Luck always deserts them ,this weekend will tell us where teams are ,Leitrim Gaels have a real test Friday,Fenagh will be playing Mohill with beirne for a full game if they stay disciplined they will win if not beirne will hurt them ,I think Aughawillan could win tonight at home,,SOH should easily beat Melvin ,there could be two massive games in round 4

Weekend Predictions

Senior
Aughawillian v Glencar Manor - Manor favourites here and have too much firepower but the willies are hard bet and never give up.
Manor by 4.

Leitrim Gaels v Mary's - This is as an intense of a rivalry as you are likely to see in club championships this wknd. LM Gaels 1 to 15 is probably a bit stronger as Mary's have a few injuries/absentees to key forwards. The townies need this win more than the Gaels but there will be nothing in it.
Mary's by 1 with a late winner.

Ballinamore v Melvin Gaels - Bmore need the 2 points desperately, lucky for them they will get them handy enough in this round, just by how much they'll win by is the question.
Ballinamore by 10 minimum.

Fenagh v Mohill - Keith Beirne saved Mohill's bacon last weekend from all accounts, it's not the same Mohill as years gone by but you can never write them off. Fenaghs two O'Rourkes up front are moving well and they've an well balanced team with no weakness. If they don't do it this year they never will.
Fenagh by 2.

Intermediate
Annaduff v Dromahair - Annaduff at home but massively inconsistent. Dromahair have Conlon, Fowley, Gethins and Feeney all big threats. Darren Cox is Annaduffs main man and if Conlon can halt his scoring D'hair should nip this.
Dromahair by 2

Gortletteragh v Carrigallen - Gortletteragh should have enough here against a C'gallen team that had a very poor league and lost by 6 in the first round.
Gortletteragh by 3

Ballinaglera v Drumkeerin - Another intense local derby, D'keerin are a well drilled side with two good coaches from all accounts and a comprehensive win the last day. If Drumkeerin don't let Glera into it early they'll win with comfort.
Drumkeerin by 5/6

Kiltubrid v Bornacoola - Kiltubrid off the back off a terrible performance last weekend will be happy with the draw they got. Bornacoola are improved side from last year with the return of Mallon who is a game changer. One of these is staring down the barrel of a relegation battle.
Kiltubrid by 1

St Mary's B v Allen Gaels - Allen Gaels are a well oiled machine. Transfer in of Kilcine from Roscommon a massive addition to the forward line and Jake Tobin to return. Can't see them being stopped this year in Intermediate. They should have been in senior 2/3 years ago and I'm betting on them to be there next year.
Allen Gaels plus 10

I think bornacoola will be relegate please. Simply not good enough at this level. They struggle and this is nice.

Allen Gaels hot favourites to go up. Darren Cox being out is a huge loss for Annaduff.

Some strange takes on things here , no doubt your colours are the royal blue and navey of the lough allen men . In terms of this weekends intermidiate game here are my HUMBLE opionions
ADUFF V DROMAHAIR . The n4 men should have enough to see off a mediocre dromahair team at best who had a average league. They are a stong physical outfit but annaduffs speed and youth should see them through especially know they are back to full strength. Annaduff by 6
GORT V CGALLEN . Gortlettragh looked flat in spells last week against allen gaels . carrigallen have been inconsistent all year . Carrigallen should have enough strenght in their backs to limit the impact of gorts young forward line with heavy dependence on quinn and the mcnulty brothers . Cariigallen will edge it by 1
BORS v KILTB . kiltubrid have been a limp effort all year boyle, croghan and the mallons will lead a promising team to victory on the day . bors by 3
DRUMKEERAN v GLERA . All set up for a tough physical encounter on the north side of luxourios lough allen . Could go either way , no doubt glera will have fire in the belly , going to say draw
AG v MARYS B . Just struggling to see all the allen gaels hype, good league and a impreesive league final no doubt , but it must be considered the quality of opposition they were playing at time . after last years bottle job and losing two consecutive semi finals to the same opposition where they were favourites both times , this team clearly have no temprement . Still should be enough to beat a underrated second string , allen gaels by 6

Hot favourites last year also thanks but they were cooled off in the final by the boys from the banks of the Melvin. So I feel the mental scars etc from that will affect them and it will bite them in the nose when the burgers are up.
