If Leitrim had flown over to London they wouldn't have been too happy with a postponement over there.

The new Hyde Park playing surface was a project managed by the GAA's National Infrastructure Committee and was funded by money which was previously allocated by Croke Park to the Roscommon county board. That money was originally allocated to Roscommon many years ago and Club Delegates agreed that it should be spend on the construction of the County Training Centre. However at County Board Meeting they agreed to re-allocate the money to Dr. Hyde Park. @kentuckytucky (USA) A normal days rain? talk about making stuff up! a month of rain fell that week and on the morning of the game there was downpours. Natural clay or old pitches aren't able to take that amount of rain. A situation you Leitrim lads should understand better now after Páirc Seán Mac Diarmada was unplayable on Sunday. I have no doubt if we hadn't a match ourselves in Hyde Park on Sunday our county board would have accommodated Leitrim. The_analyser (Roscommon) - Posts: 4076 - 22/02/2022 09:41:05 2401773 Link 3 |
It has happened us a few times in the last https://www.thesun.ie/sport/gaa-football/2246030/leitrim-facing-the-prospect-of-a-third-postponed-game-against-london-in-11-years/ SeanMacDiarmada (Leitrim) - Posts: 419 - 22/02/2022 09:42:57 2401774 Link 1 |
that happened back in the 2000's for a league game, Ruislip was unplayable and no other venue in London to the requisite standard to hold a league game.

Thanks for coming on to this thread and imparting your wisdom on us. If a months worth of rain fell during the week then that game should have been cancelled much earlier to stop people travelling on the morning of to show up at a closed park.

I think the issue with games in our centre of excellence may be location. I don't think the authorities want a build up of traffic/people on that stretch of road, which is fair enough I guess, but on the other hand perhaps it should have been built elsewhere in a quieter location. Anyway it is done now and that is that.

Oh.... robbing Peter to pay Paul basically. All the while the cheque book was still locked up because ye couldn't be trusted to project manage it yourselves. Embarrassing.

Does anyone know if Shane Moran is on the panel . Hasn't played any game yet. Sunday was a disaster and a hammer blow to any hope of promotion. All we can do now is starting in Dungarvan next Sunday is start putting in big performances and grinding out results even when conditions are tough. It's all very well saying we've potential but we have to start showing it and on a consistent basis too. We'll need to be much better next Sunday as I can never remember us beating Waterford in Dungarvan. JimmyNail (Leitrim) - Posts: 284 - 22/02/2022 13:18:54 2401858 Link 0 |
Lads. We screwed up on Sunday, both on and off the pitch. I am a Leitrim GAA man to the core . However we should at this point stop slagging our neighbours who seem to have their house in better order to ours. All we can do is hope lessons can be learned and the lads go unbeaten for the remainder of the campaign. If that's good enough then great. If not we can plan for Easter Sunday and take the frustrations out there. What's done is done. Liathroim Abu Forgodssakeref (Leitrim) - Posts: 15 - 22/02/2022 13:39:09 2401865 Link 4 |
Who are these neighbours and how do they have their house in order better than us? And if they weren't on our forum slagging us then there wouldn't be anything about it.

Having attended both venues in the past the location and issues with traffic isn't much different to Connacht GAA Centre . Brushing what happened under the carpet with the view that's it done is not the way to go, serious questions need to be asked why there own expensive centre wasn't used and it would have been the opportunity to showcase it with the RTÉ cameras and other media there.

Every county gives its own pitch every opportunity to host there game. Leitrim did the same last Sunday but further heavy rain ruled it out. To prevent this from happening in the future Seán Mac Diarmada would require a surface with proper drainage. As sourmilk said the boot is on the other foot now and slagging about this topic is now officially over something both yourself and Square_B will have to accept and move on from. Ah just because you said it now we'll stop for sure lol, seeing as it was yourselves that began it. Best way to stop it is toddle back to your own thread and speak wisdom on that like a good poster.

'The boot is on the other foot' ... LOL. 5 games were postponed across all divisions last weekend.... Hyde Park was in such bad condition that the pitch had to be completely replaced after years of neglect. There is a difference funny enough. Now toddle on back to your own thread there.

Is the Leitrim COE accessible from any road except the N4? How does the parking capacity there compare to Bekan?

The bickering here is unbelievable really between supporters of two of the lesser lights. I think both counties should try to solve their own issues rather than bicker about each others. Maybe then ye can become competitive at the top table again if ye implement a five to ten year plan. theboxtyisabrewing (Mayo) - Posts: 3 - 22/02/2022 16:30:33 2401940 Link 0 |
It's only accessible from the N4 and they aren't going to have cars parking on side of road when the car park is full up in a 100kph zone. But he knows that anyway.

Presuming you originated in the condiment of mayo.

Shane Moran is not on the panel to the best of my knowledge, although I'm open to correction on that. Niall McGovern wasn't even called in for trials. Prior, D McGovern and Maxwell the only SOH reps on the panel going from match programs so far. Dodgy_Pass (Leitrim) - Posts: 402 - 22/02/2022 17:18:20 2401955 Link 1 |
Looks to be a fine setup. The mayo senior team trained in the Leitrim COE last year on at least two occasions. No pitches playable/available in our own county. yew_tree (Mayo) - Posts: 11627 - 22/02/2022 17:19:00 2401956 Link 0 |
