I was impressed with Leitrim today, we look fitter and more aggressive than we have in a long time. Which was badly needed. Kickouts need a lot of work, but over all I was impressed. Ref was shocking. Great to see a big crowd back in Paric Sean.

Great display from d lads 2day in terrible conditions 4a game but we did well. Just a pity we didn't take anything from it but considering it was our 1st game I thought we did really well.

We battled very hard and had some great performances, I thought our defence was very solid, midfield more than held there own, but we could make no headway against a massed Cavan defence, we couldn't find space inside and turned the ball over time and time again. We really needed to be five or six ahead with that wind and going in a point down left us in big trouble, Cavan made use of the wind better than us by kicking long range points and frees. While there was positives ultimately no points and we're already facing a must win game in Thurles next sunday, it will take some performance to get a result there. Is Shane Moran on the panel ? Wasn't named on the 26 panel today.

Great to see Andy really turning things around. A couple a years ago Cavan were giving the dubs plenty of it for 45 minutes. Ye coulda took them today so promotion is possible with less formidable opposition waiting. Well done

Firstly it was just great to be back at a match with a full crowd. I seen people that I wouldn't have seen since before the pandemic! Would love to know the attendance figures.

Secondly, it was great to see a Leitrim team play without fear and with aggression along with alot of structure defensively which we have been crying out for. It might not have been the conditions for it but we were attempting to play a lovely style of football.

Cavan definitely deserved their win when you consider the amount of wides they kicked but we seriously challenged them. Seeing as they are a team woth alot more experience and alot further down the road with their management team we should all be encouraged.

We butchered 2/3 real goal chances that really would have gave us a platform and a belief to kick on. Our kickouts malfunctioned aswell and it seemed our only go to option was to go long to Mark Plunkett but Cavan realised this and doubled up on him and then we struggled to win our own ball from our restarts. But with video analysis and extra work this is something that should be able to be improved relatively quickly.
We only gave up one goal opportunity which was from poor judgment from our most experienced player which is a big change from the last few years!

I thought Pearce Dolan was exceptional. We've been waiting for a few years to show what he is capable of but yesterday seemed like a real turning point for him.
Donal Wrynn also got through some amount of work.
Our attack showed glimpses of what they could do on a dreadful day for football. But I do really believe when it does click for them they can worry any defence. Riordan O'Rourke showed really well even if his first touch let him down a small bit.

I thought some of the substitutions were strange but the management are obviously seeing things at training we aren't. We have a few boys to come back into the squad aswell which is a great sign.

Lastly, the refereeing was shocking. Even the Cavan support beside me were bemused at the soft frees they were getting. Moran was furious on the sideline. But that unconscious bias seems to always go with the perceived stronger team unfortunately. Hopefully Moran uses his platform to highlight this.

Win next weekend and we will have a great chance!

Losing by a point at half time with a strong breeze behind you is quite simply not good enough.

Leitrim got promoted to Div 3 a few years ago. If Andy Moran has really turned things around they'll gain promotion with Cavan. Let's wait and see will that happen.

Do agree the ref was strange, we did get a fair few handy frees (and I said so to the Leitrim man sitting next to me), and ye got a few too although he definitely leaned more to us. He had a very weird way of looking at things and what he considered a free or good tackling. Would say that your tackle technique needs to be looked at. That thing will kill you at this level, especially against a team with a good free taker. I saw some fouls given away yesterday that was just pure silly, no need to foul or jump in at certain times. Don't think it was just a bias or going with the perceived stronger team, just that he seemed to favour the forward nearly too much and was very hard on the backs. And the team who attacks more then gets more frees if a ref looks this way. Might just have seemed that way on the day.

Anyway, go well the rest of the year. You've a good side, and on a better day and on the back of a few games, you'll give more than enough teams a rattle here.

The proof of the pudding will be how we get on against Tipp next Sunday and then Sligo in round 7. I expected worse I'll be honest... at least the scoring difference was kept reasonable which will help if we manage to be still in contention for promotion. Wexford & Carlow could be banana skins but it won't matter a damm if we don't beat Tipp.

Seen enough from from Leitrim on sunday to think they will go up along with cavan and be promoted, Cavan will walk the division with 100% record with gearoid mckiernan and a few others yet to return but 2nd spot is very much up for grabs and i think it will ultimately come down to the leitrim v sligo game to decide 2nd spot, Tipperary seem to be a rabble this year, lots of the munster winners have dropped off and they drew with a woeful waterford side.

I never thought at any stage that cavan looked like losing that game even with all their wides but leitrim impressed with their workrate and fitness and on another drier day guys like o'rourke and keith beirne will put up bigger scores on the scoreboard.

Standard in div 4 is no great shakes so no reason leitrim cant join cavan in going up

This game against Tipp was always going to be huge but it's now taken on even more significance with their result last weekend. Although I've a suspicion that Sligo are the dark horses.

Win this game and we put ourselves in with a real chance.
Conor Sweeney is obviously Tipps main danger man. Paddy will have to do a good man marking job on him to give us a chance.

I would expect us to name virtually the same team as last week.
Dean McGovern was asked to complete a difficult role of dropping infront of the fullback line in the first half last weekend which means covering a huge amount of ground. I thought he did this brilliantly so.I was surprised when he was replaced? Maybe he has a knock. My guess would be that the only change might be Shane Quinn for him.

I'll be interested to see if there is a marked improved on our kickouts and if some of our basic handling and passing improves which put us under needless pressure at times last weekend.

I would expect the likes of Ryan O'Rourke to have alot more space and time this weekend. It's not often the calibre of defenders such as McLoughin, Gunnar Brady and All Star Faulkner will be in Div 4.

Hope a good Leitrim contingent makes the trip to Tipp.

This is Coach Moran's biggest test. If we lose this one then it is fair to say our season in general is in bother. Moral defeats or we played well for most of the game don't cut it no more.

Our season will be over lets not beat around the bush.... and my pocket will be lighter (good odds available at the moment for Leitrim to be promoted... worth a punt).

You could write a song about that!
It would be great to have a link. I couldn't make the Cavan game in the end. I hoped there would be a stream but there seemed to be a few fake links to bogus streams. If there is no stream, Ocean fm are good for the unbroken dedicated commentary online (ie you won't have the flow interrupted by Willie H commentating on the Rossies every few minutes)
