Only difference I could see between Leitrim and Sligo V NY was that Sligo were fit having done the hard yards since November.

The manner of ease Sligo took care of New York this afternoon makes one wonder how poorly prepared Leitrim was for that game two weeks ago.

This was to ease the travel burden on away based players for once. You should get your facts in order before posting your inferences."
My facts are in order. The clubs have been footing the bills for years. If you don't know that you are deluded or your another county board member that doesn't like to admit that happens

Sure if we got to play them at a reasonable time of day in Carrick and not at 11pm Irish time in NY we'd beat them comfortably also

Long past time there was a home and away system for this fixture. Or otherwise NY be pushed out of the competition

Not really no. Sligo were at home, playing at a reasonable hour, on an ordinary pitch and no distractions. Not much to wonder about really.

Pretty much the difference of playing on a plastic pitch to grass pitch. New York were clueless on the grass pitch as they kept trying to bounce the ball. To be fair to Sligo they made New York look like a junior team..

If you watched Leitrim it is very obvious they aren't fit enough to be able to compete with a half decent team. Some of them just aren't athletic enough.

You realise you can't be saying that. There are sacred cows that need to be defended at all costs and criticism, even if its constructive, is not welcome on this forum.

Maybe keep them in Connacht but I can't see how it works with them in the Tailteann or Sam Maguire. They are back for a PQF but the GAA will secretly be hoping they lose.

New York in Pairc Sean for tailteann quarter final, somethings are just bound to happen and I think this is one of those things.

Does anyone know if anyone has left the Leitrim panel from the NY game? Hopefully the full panel are still available and committed. Our summer is not over yet.

The minors played very well, probably should have Sligo out of sight by half time with Honeyman hitting the crossbar and upright, and a few other wides. We should beat Roscommon next week too, looks like they have a very poor team again this year at this level. Leitrim minors can have a big say in Connacht this year based on the showing last Friday

Thats not the point though. He suggested that leitrim hadn't put in the "hard yards" in November. I'm sure he knows that for sure! Maybe they are not athletic enough but for anyone from outside the county to suggest that they didn't put in the "hard yards" beggars belief. Its a lazy cliche. Maybe mayo didn't put in the "hard yards" either and they then lost to roscommon!!

I sincerely hope they go on a huge run in the Tintin cup and clean out GAA coffers with the cost of the games. It would give me a great deal of satisfaction. Why not have an Australian or Canadian or continental European team compete also. There's as many Gaels in these places now.

It looks like that. Look what would I know but from the games I've been at we didn't look to be fit enough to beat any half decent team.

Dont need to state any facts. If you were an active member of any club in leitrim you'd know.

Yet we beat laois, ran sligo to a point who are now in connacht final. I agree that we've had a poor year but saying lads aren't fit or didn't put in the necessary training is a cheap shot I think. If they were so unfit how did we run up such big scores in some games and get within a score of the two teams who were promoted?? Genuine question BTW

Following Sligo's dismissal of New York, here's a couple of hypothetical questions:

1. How would Sligo have done over in Gaelic Park if it had been their turn to go over there two weeks ago?

2. Really pushing the what-if boat here, but, following on from Q1, if New York had won that one, how would we have fared today in Carrick against the same New York team that lost to Sligo by 16 points?
