Replying To marmalade_farmer:  "Why is he brave? It's probably the easiest job in football, there's no expectations there at all. I think it's a bizarre appointment instead of going for someone local with experience."
What ever you say yourself!

Replying To Square_B:  "The chap has less than a years management experience... WITH HIS OWN CLUB! He 'helped out' with the Mayo U20's for a few months before that. He has absolutely no management experience worthy of a county job. Sloan perhaps has the pedigree worthy of a county job but lets not kid ourselves about Moran. If they don't get Leitrim out of Division 4 it will be failure."
Who do you recommend? Plenty of successful young managers out there.

Brace is just a personal opinion. Think it could hinder his chances of bigger job down the line should he not show at the minimum a good bit of improvement.
That said Leitrim are better than they showed last year. Think they have the ability to again achieve league promotion. Some good forwards in O'Rourke and Beirne. If he can improve the defence he can do a decent job.

Best of luck to Andy and Leitrim. Hope it works out for both parties. When I travel to Leitrim I'm always taken by their keen interest in all things GAA. Proud county and people.

Names Marmalade farmer? Most senior clubs have someone from outside the county over them!

I see it's reported as inside selectors. Didn't hear any names linked but a few I'd like to see involved

Mal Guckin
Shane Ward
Barry McWeeney
Dermot Renoylds
Micheal McGuinness
Joe Flynn

People like that who are true GAA people and know the game in Leitrim. I'm sure there are lots more but they are the ones I think can add something to it.

Rumour has it Gary Donohoe assembled backroom team and went for it as did Kevin Walsh.

Sean Shanley ex Dublin Chairman was part of the selection committee along with Reynolds & McKeon so you'd imagine the interview process was rigourous.

You'd be hoping Andy got the job on the basis of what his vision is for the county and the panel and not for cost saving reasons as he loses out to the other two men mentioned above when it comes to local knowledge and managerial experience respectively.

He'll be watching games back on the stream as his club commitments will undoubtedly prevent him from attending the remainder of the championship games live.

He has been good to listen to on the Off the Ball podcast this year and his standing in the province/game will surely have players curious and eager to commit.

His background in S & C could surely be tapped into for formulating a long term program in this area for all players 14 and upwards in the county too.

Be interesting to see how it works out, certainly less risk involved with us than with the Longford job.

Kevin Walsh was on Galway bay FM and said it was only a rumour that he didn't put his name forward for the job. Gary Donohoe did so tbf to the county board if it was cost saving they would have chose Gary.

The man I suggested (Padraic Davis) obviously could not be convinced to put his name forward. He knows Leitrim football through his involvement with Mohill, did a decent enough job with Longford and is thought well of in Leitrim. Moran on the other hand has done nothing in management worthy of a county job. No official announcement yet from the county board so who knows if it's really true or not.
