Well done, Strokestown! Great champions. The Mayo lads weren't up to them at all. It'd be great to see them go all the way now.

Congrats to Strokestown Connacht Intermediate champions in some style in MacHale Park. The 9 point winning margin full value for it.

Shane McGinley, Stephen Tigue, Colin Compton, Timmy Gibbons, Colin Neary, Mickey Kavanagh among the stand out players on show

Another heavy loss for your Mayo reps this time on their home patch against Roscommon opposition today.

Next Mayo v Roscommon game in the senior intercounty championship will be in Machale park and Clare am I right in saying that Roscommon won their last two championship matches against Mayo in Machale park?

Yer a force.
Definitely top 8 it's something we aspire to.
But by god
Since COVID its like ye have jumped off a cliff ye are not in the reckoning for sfa same as ourselves
Connacht is as low now as early 90s aiming for league victories and non runners for Sam.

No early 90s team in Connacht reached 2 All-Ireland finals in 4 years nor did the province have 3 teams playing in Div 1 with a 4th team with the potential to rise up the divisions.

Connacht was in lower level when Mayo won five in row 2011 to 2015. Roscommon then was struggling to get out of Division 3 and Galway who would remain a Div 2 team until 2018.

Some win for them. It would be great now if they could make the All Ireland.

One question from a selfish county perspective, is the progress of clubs deep into the AI series a negative for the county team?

Just thinking off the top of my head in recent years, the Glen lads possibly running out of gas for Derry. Ben O'Carroll that same year never fully recovered from his club injury and Eddie Nolan stepped away from the panel. Shane Walsh jaded for Galway the year Kilmacud won. The Canavans took a while to get going last year for Tyrone.
