Do you really think that this settled 15 as you call it performed all year, bar last Sunday most people would say that they under-performed all year.

Has Galway improved in reality they lost 3 championship matches this year not blaming Henry at all in my opinion they just don't have the quality hurlers ,, prob 3-4, of present squad will retire I think they have given a lot to the game ,, Kickitout (Galway) - Posts: 832 - 06/07/2022 11:13:04 2430035 Link 0 |
Firstly I was hugely impressed with the work ethic, tackling, intensity on Sunday. Mayonman (Galway) - Posts: 1826 - 06/07/2022 11:21:35 2430044 Link 1 |
"Hopefully Cody stays another year as Kilkenny will want Shefflin if there is a vacancy." I'm not so sure about this, Kilkenny wanting Shefflin if Cody decides to call it a day this year. Now, with me living in London, I'm not au fait with the daily pub talk and rumours around Kilkenny hurling, I have no insight. That said, I don't think Shefflin is a shoo-in. Leaving aside that he rejected the offer to join Cody's management team, there are several other candidates in with a shout; James McGarry and DJ Carey to name two. I do think they performed yes. Leinster final was a blemish but that was a poor game that James Owens pulled for everything, nonetheless it was poor. Overall though especially given the SON years, this year was major progress. I would give Galway hurling a B+ rating for 2022 and only Limerick & KK are ranked higher.

Think Clare had a better year tbh. Hardly anyone was expecting them to get out of Munster. They brought their provincial final to extra time. You got to where most neutrals probably expected you to get this year. Leinster final and AISF. You have a good team that under achieved the last few years. In fairness to SON the first year wasn't too bad lost by 3 to Limerick in injury time same as this year SixtiesKid (Galway) - Posts: 304 - 06/07/2022 19:57:46 2430181 Link 0 |
Yeah I was thinking DJ Carey too. I see Shefflin in Galway for at least a few more years.

Think Derek Lyng has to be a good bet also

You've got to leave Cody in the job, this could be the sweetest All Ireland he ever wins....like if Kilkenny win the All Ireland he will be a legend above a legend....Super legend maybe??

Hope you took my advice Pope, and supported the footballers. Congratulations on the double to the county. Minors have done it, and so can the seniors! Could be a great year yet for the county, and that loss to Limerick can be put on the back burner of the brain. Gaillimh abu!

Yes and in 2020 Limerick had Cian Lynch going full throttle. Most of us, Limerick Supporters, feel the team are not the same without him.

If he loses is he the first Kilkenny manager to lose 3 championship games in one season? Another record

No Kilkenny manager had the chance to lose 3 championship games. He's there since 1999 when the most you could lose was 2. And 3 years before that you could only lose 1!!

Talks of the clubs championship being pushed back a week due to the footballer's being in the all Ireland final and fair play to them we will be cheering them on ,only problem that's race week, wonder will they go for Friday and Saturday of the planned weekend. I'd say if Cody were to win this year it would be his best accomplishment as KK manager. In past years when he won they were the favorites to do so but I'd say even the most die hard KK fan didn't expect an AI this year. Most expected Limerick v Waterford or maybe Cork, etc. I wouldn't be shocked if Cody stepped down if KK beat Limerick. And yes he'd be a Super Legend.

It would still be a record all the same!

You'll hardly wear a Ballindeeren Jersey for the All Ireland Final!

Yes, many expected Waterford, but very few expected Cork to be in the Final. They had been so handsomely beaten by Limerick and Waterford in the two recent National Finals, together with their recent very poor Croke Park History ensured they were not seen s serious contenders for a Final place.
