Because that's when I can remember back to Tommy!!! If you want to go back 60 odd years we'd have a couple more won too. I go to minor and u20 games. Lucky if there'd be a few hundred at them til you get to finals. So I'd disagree with you about most people going to them.

Fully agree. Im much more of a football follower than a hurling one and very very rarely go to any hurling or camogie games, but I would have no issue passing the knowledge test on Galway camogie senior players or hurling under age.

In the last 15 years we have won more Senior AI Camogie finals than you have. And where are all these right hurling fans in Galway and why don't they go to your minor and u20 games? Lucky if you get a few thousand of them at a final. And of course you get to minor hurling finals every other year. For most years I've been alive you only had to win 1 game to get there! I will give you your S and C at underage was, and still is, streets ahead of ours. Your lads always look about 4 or 5 years older than ours all the games between us I've been to.

Much less time on the ball in Championship.

Lads spending time posting on this are usually fairly diehard fans. I wasn't cutting at any of ye. I know from chats even with lads who play and coach at my club that not all would know much about this year's camogie or underage teams although many would. And there's loads of other parents who bring their kids to senior intercounty games who wouldn't even know how much we lost the u20 final by let alone name 10 players from the team.

I never said most people are "going to them" but many people "watch them" on TV etc. I must be a lot older than you then viking if you can only go back 30 years!

As I said before on this forum and you know well yourself, the reason the minors are not in the Leinster championship is that most Leinster counties outside of KK do not want Galway in there as they feel they would dominate it so please be genuine and transparent before you throw out the jibe about winning 1 game to get there. Galway want to participate in all the Leinster grades not this half in / half out arrangement that is there now.

I agree with you 100%. Galway minors should be in it. It wasn't meant to be a jibe merely a statement of fact BTW. Especially in minor anything can happen during a game as it ebbs and flows. Young lads heads can go down after a quick lucky goal etc etc. Teenagers by definition don't have the same experience of game management etc as Senior players. So if you only have to win a semifinal you'd have a good chance of making a good few finals. Especially if you are good at the grade anyway as Galway are.

Mannions are top class hurlers but size is unfortunately not one of their many attributes. Johnny Glynn, Niall Burke, Joseph Cooney, Canning, Conor Cooney (just about) are big strong men... We only have 2 of those left with only Fahy brought in who doesnt have the same power as any of the lads he has replaced. For the life of me I cannot understand why we dont give the big minors and U20s a better run. Should be a quota for half the panel must be over 6 foot 2... then we might see more transitioning to senior over the following 4-5 years.

Jonny Glynn is like the Statue of Liberty. Towering size but very little movement!

I wouldn't say no to having him now

That's a jibe now viking no doubt! Johnny was well able to move when he ran thorough the Cork defence in 2015 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DwmO-I--ueA

Cathal Mannion is about 6' 2" which is not short by any means!

Just because some minors are big and win All Ireland medals doesn't make them good. Size is a huge factor at minor level and size at that age can make a lad look a lot better player than he actually is. We have an ex minor winner on the current senior panel and I will be more than surprised if he becomes a regular at senior level because he doesn't possess the necessary skill to make an impact. Too much focus on size is no good either. Having the skills is just as important.

As too your comment on our minors having one game and getting to an all Ireland why don't you get your county board to canvass the rest of the scared Leinster counties and let us into the Leinster championship because we were only brought in to prop up the senior championship and give Kilkenny a match.I didn't see much wrong with Johnny Glynn when he climbed up the stairs of the Hogan stand to hold up the McCarthy cup in 2017 was well able to move.I wonder will we see a Wexford man doing that in the near future? You had enough of statues in Thurles last Saturday when they were needed.

It is Tommy. He was. I was really hoping you would win and very happy when you did. I was sitting pitchside on the 45 at the end you were attacking and Jonny made Conor Mac look like a greyhound.
