Meelick-Eyrecourt v Kinvara Intermediate Final....changingt times for Kinvara!
Remember one time when they had just a Senior team now JHC D Semi Final and JHC E Final and going strong at underage too!
Must be alot of new houses and population increase over the last few years bit like Ballindeeren future looks good!
People no longer settling in Oranmore, Clarinbridge, Turloughmore and Craughwell!

The finalists are no surprise at Senior and Intermediate, Mellows beating Ahascragh-Fohenagh not as much a surprise as it seems, Mellows have plenty of seasoned campaigners and were able to negate Cathal Mannions influence. Same at Senior, both are seasoned , streetwise.
Craughwell were lightweight and naive and Turlough have no forwards and puck out strategy kamikaze. Craughwell have players coming through, but injuries robbed them of players like Adam Stewart , Mark Monaghan, Stephen Hynes and Oisin Quirke for most of season who would have brought more physicality & skill. Tom's toyed with them. Victor Manzo was electric , surely MD will have a look, Eanna Burke, David Burke, Shane Cooney Conor Cooney ran the show. But Craughwell will have build on it. Ciaran Leen shone brightly and only forward that scored, MD will need to have a look.
Turlough need to get traction from underage success soon, Matthew Tarpey a loss, didn't use full bench either, before older experienced lads move on. Loughrea have mix of youth and experience plus some serious hurlers coming through. Hanharan in backs, Shane Morgan Cullin Killeen, Tiernan Killeen, Darren Shaugnessy, Anthony Burns need county exposure .
Kinvara were expected to make intermediate final, Ballygar will have a lot of What, if's. Kinvara have a young fast team , will be favourites. Meelick-Eyrecourt hanging around a while, can they do it, be interesting. I call Tom's and Kinvara.

David Burke was a great galway servant. Unfortunately age is catching up on him for intercounty. Thomas's are a great club team. As regards county level, I'd bring in Manzo for a look (probably too small) and leave the rest. Intercounty is a different animal.

Well you're going round in every thread essentially saying up Loughrea. Save that for the stadium.

Manso's age would likely count against him too as the amount of conditioning work it would take to get him to cope at IC level wouldn't be achieved in a year I don't think.

He's a lovely player in full flight though and takes serious minding

Would he be good on the bench to come in late in matches for a spark I wonder? When the opponent defenses are tired?

That ship has sailed i'm afraid.
No major breakthrough of new players for the county panel from the Club Championship i feel.
When you look at the St Thomas' players dominating in tight exchanges one has to be concerned.
Daithi is still the only player of IC standard in Turloughmore.

Looks close on paper but it wasn't on grass.

Kinvara comfortably the better side as a 'from play' tally of approx. 1-17 to 0-10 or so would imply.

A combination of switching off after building up a big lead and a referee in the last 10 minutes awarding Beagh numerous frees for innocuous looking challenges. It's not a foul when a defender stands his ground when a forward carries the ball into contact and hits the floor. If it were we would have 100 frees per match and no play.

Nobody says the free count should be equal as that's plainly ludicrous, but a free count of 21-6 in Beagh's favour, given the disparity in scores from open play, gives food for thought. Particularly as from memory the yellow card count was equal.

It's not the referee's job to 'make the game competitive' or give a leg up to a team who can't manage it by themselves."
Totally agree Kinvara are an outstanding team expect them do it against Eyrecourt who struggled against Ballygar.

In the senior it's a lot harder to call to be honest, my gut feel is Loughrea but I wasn't impressed by them at the start of year perhaps they have gained momentum since then, St Thomas probably at the end of incredible generation but never count them out.

Kinvara 7+
Loughrea by 2

Kinvara by 5. St. Thomas's by 2. Incredible consistency by Thomas's over a long period of time. They're doing something right.

Kinvara by 4 and Loughrea by 5.
Pace incredibly lacking in the Thomas' defence feel Loughrea can do damage by having the legs on them. In middle third also.
