A much smaller than expected crowd. Very average game

One of those rare occasions where the better side have lost.

Sickening. Absolutely sickening. The writing was on the wall when Fanning made that mistake for the goal because his puck-outs were terrible. Loss of Rory early on was crippling, but we never pushed on after the third goal. Can't fault any of the outfielders on the day, momentum is a killer.

Very debatable.

Hard luck to the lads. Losing the 2 Recks down the home stretch probably tipped the balance. Dee never looked right and losing Rory early certainly didn't help. Plenty to build on for next year. Looking forward to the club championship now!

Hard luck today lads. Looked like ye had it in the bag but then Clare found that extra gear out of nowhere. Not sure I'd go quite that far Doyler; you can't go over ten minutes in a championship game and only score a brace of points, and expect to win. Ye were completely out-muscled there at the end. Again though, hard luck.

Sickening loss, heartbroken after that tbh. Shane and Damien Reck going off were massive losses. Tony Kelly came into the game when Shane went off.

Mark Fanning has been a liability since start of the championship.

Safe drive home. Tough loss, but at least it's a lovely drive.

That familiar sickening feeling. Had Clare on a bad day and couldn't put them to bed. Couldn't put a hand on those Clare boys and we never got a free all day.

A fit Rory should have seen us over the line. The usual what ifs.

We went through the whole championship and only lost two matches one by a point to Dublin and one by four points today.

We are as good as anyone now and need to kick on from here.

Pity. I thought Wexford would get over the line. Usually there is an incident that changes the game. Liam Ryan shooting a terrible wide that would have broken the Clare come back. The second that Fanning fumble. To be kind the only thing I can say is he is no Fitzhenry and way down the pecking order on inter county goalies. However I suppose both Wexford goals would be called back on another day. Rory a huge loss also. Grateful for the entertainment given this year.

Think you're spot on beano about loss of Rory and then fanning mistake. Real sense of deja vu from'19 and not being able to close out the match from a winning position. Gutted

Gifting a goal at that point was the clincher, they didn't have to work for it. Could have sneaked it if not for that goal. Losing 2 recks in last 10 mins and roc at start did not help. For def I thought over 60 mins Wex were the better side with tactics and matchups and put Clare under savage pressure when they had the ball but a game lasts 70 mins plus. Their bench in the end was the difference imo.

Two close calls alright but chin was nearly strangled with the hurl around his neck for first goal.
