lt's worth noting that Cavan has not won a Sam Maguire cup since the cavan gaels were founded, nor have the Gaels ever won an Ulster football title. Point is that the Cavan Gaels have been a hindrance to football in Cavan.
Declankillann.

Its worth noting that Cavan has not won a senior championship since a lot of clubs were founded, its also worth noting, that there are clubs in Cavan who have failed to win one Cavan Senior Championship in their lifetime, never mind an Ulster Championship. Point is, the Gaels have won 10 senior championships in the last 20 odd years and 10 minor championships in the same period and are without doubt, Cavan's greatest ever club, never mind in the last 20 years.
Its also worth noting that the jealousy and envy from some sections of Cavan Supporters is laughable as most decent Cavan supporters will acknowledge the fact that they are a step above everyone else.

Cavan Gaels have won Ulster minor and Ulster under 17 titles. They have also been in three Ulster senior club finals. So your point is Cavan would have won all Ireland's since 1957 if Cavan Gaels were still cavan harps and cavan slashers. Head scratching comment.

Good man DeclanKillian . Jealousy will get you no where. Tell me all about your great club and what they have won and all the great players they produced?
I gladly say I'm a Gaels man and proud of their achievements as a club since their foundation in 1957.

Being despised is a matter of choice but saying they have been a hinderance to Cavan football I don't accept.

The Gaels are very good at winning matches, as they've shown over the last 20 years but from what I've heard they would want to learn how to lose graciously. They let themselves down badly after losing a semi today

Few of them took their defeat badly, few Gaels lads looking at suspensions

Cavan Gaels can always only aspire to be as good as the Kingscourt Stars, but never will be.

Suppose it is only natural, the cross pollination of Meath blood in the Stars DNA that will always stand to them in the end. And they can accept defeat graciously, unlike the Gaels

Tomsmith here

Waking up to the reality of a very sad day for one of Cavans greatest clubs .
I know I know that all Country teams like to beat the Town team ( It has been like that for years) and it gives the little clubs from away out in the country a big boost to beat ( and I say beatt) a bit a big club like the Gaels.
Overall a very sad day in Cavan Town

Hard facts are anyone living in the parish can choose between Gaels, Killygarry , Drumalee. It's a personal choice. Nobody's forced. The Gaels don't particularly care whether they are liked or not but I do take exception to a poster( declankillian) saying they have been a hinderance to Cavan football. I asked him to back that statement up with facts but like all trolls he doesn't reply.
So let's hear they reason the Gaels are a hinderance to Cavan football.

I wouldn't call them a hindrance to Cavan football as they have provided a lot of very good players to our county team for many years now…!

The gaels are the most successful club in cavan for the past ten years but why in gods earth have they spent so much money up in terry coyle which is a completely unsuitable venue for gaa matches when they should have sold up and moved to a greenfield site of the new bypass. Attended a junior final there this evening what ever genius decided that terry coyle park was a suitable venue on a bank holiday weekend or on any day for that matter when every pitch in the county was available should get promoted. It took some people three quaters of an hour to get out of it.

Ah, 'the old, from what I've heard'. Unless you were at the match, I'd suggest you get your facts right and stop relying on
idle gossip. Apart from one or two heated exchanges and disappointment from losing at the end, the majority of the players on both sides were remarkably behaved. In fact, most of the players on both sides are actually best friends, socialised together that evening and played two soccer matches on the same team the next day.

Canan blue and white and Breffni Blue

I have to take issue with Declankillen and Breffni Park about Cavan Gaels being a hindrance to Football in Cavan. I must say that the reason that the Gaels did not do well outside of Cavan in the past 20 years was because of the poor standard of opposition that the Gaels had within Cavan. The poor Gaels players were playing junior standard the Gaels won many games at ease and when they went out in Ulster faced the first real test. So dont blame the Gaels
blame poor opposition within Cavan.......
