2021 Congress - Ban On Joint Captains Receiving Trophy

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

What's the punishment?? If the rule is broken. Look if we continue with jc this year and say they win promotion and the trophy. What would happen if both lifted the cup ? I'm curious. Again I just think it's totally madness and a ridiculous motion to bring and get passed. It really doesn't matter. As far as I know there's only two county teams with jc (open to correction ) Wexford in hurling and Meath in football. Is there others ?? Is it more to do with ending joint captains??

Was there any motions to ban the 'Hip Hip Horray? I'd endorse that one

Who decided this needed raising?
Did someone from New York announce that if they saw one more presentation with two people lift a trophy they would burn down the clubhouse?
And then the clowns actually voted in favour of it.

Here's an idea, leave the bloody laws of the games alone for 20 years and concentrate on spreading the finances and marketing instead of this pedantic guff.

They will be told go stand in the corner of Croke Park until the teacher tells them they can leave.

The GAA is turning into a joke at this stage when a motion like that gets time and consideration.. More and more non GAA people are getting themselves involved with the running of the game at all levels from clubs to the very top level all to assume power and to be noticed.... and unfortunately this is the sort of nonsense that comes from it.. The more these people are on board the more people will turn their backs on the game at all levels and who would blame them.....!!

I know. Look it doesn't bother me one bit. I'm sure if Meath did win anything this year (highly unlikely) who picked up trophy would be last thing on our minds including players.
What I don't get is what sort of mindset would come up with this idea. For congress to agree it should go forward and be voted on. For it to get through and no one ask why ? . Is this a pressing issue? Where was the problem and above all wtf they were smoking when they came up with this

When did HQ have to have a good reason for change look at the Sky 8s, 1 game at home 1 game away 1 game in neutral venue. Except if your dublin .

Seems a bit jobsworth this.

What are the GAA going to do ban lads for six months if they lift the cup together. Is this just captains and if so why. A couple of non- captain pals go up and lift cups together.

Seems pretty pointless this.

Exactly. Totally unnecessary and a useless motion

I know it's a stupid rule but if it takes 2 to lift a trophy then make them smaller. What next joint Man of the match. 1 team, 1 captain.
