Meath V Dublin Leinster Final.

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

And now the buzz groundless sound bites roll out...

Meath were a shambles out there tonight

You won't see Dublin underestimate anyone.

Teams can challenge Dublin

Have beaten Dublin

And have blown massive opportunities to beat them in their pomp

Meath should be hugely dissatisfied with their own effort tonight. No excuses whatsoever for that shambles.

Dublin do what they always try to do, and Meath just couldn't cope with that

That was fantastic from Dublin. Their work-rate, speed and ability is phenomenal. Any sign of slowing down under Farrell has been dispelled

That's the death knell of Leinster football I'd say.

I won't be watching it again. Doubt many of those young Meath lads will be back either. There is no way back after that. Meath have thrown as much as they can at this in recent years, most professional setup we can have. We don't have the population or resources to compete with a professional team.

It's been discussed ad nauseum but the sport is a farce now, especially if you've to try and get out of Leinster. Let the GAA deal with the destruction they created.

I was referring to your complete lack of it genius

Bit of class from the Dubs, on and off field.

Their ability cannot be questioned you don't get all Ireland after all Ireland with luck. Only hardwork first and talent second gets that. But leinster is a shambles of a competition and I don't even think I can use the word competition"
Come back to me after ye play them.

If Donegal played Dublin every year in their province you'd have no team at all left as they'd have given up for the barstool long ago.

But yes, certainly the gap in Leinster is embarrassing"
Put up a challenge? Yes they might get to within 10 points of them - half the Meath deficit - but is that something anyone really wants to watch?

Hard luck to Meath. Dublin were very good. They are an amazing side. I think they have been good for the sport. You want teams to copy them and emulate how they play. You also want them to lose at some stage. Lots of teams have come very close such as Kerry and Mayo etc. Westmeath, Laois and Meath (Division 2 teams) have had a go. Now it is time to give other teams a shot.

We do need to look at the provincial championships though. There has been some excitement this year for my county and Cavan say. But in the backdoor super-8 era, they had become stale. They should be ended.

As for Meath. ? Well we can only hope for better days ahead. Hard luck lads. It's a tough lesson.
We move on and I look forward to the start of the obc. (If it is to proceed. ) Otherwise it's the league.
Hon the royal"
6 in a row not in doubt you say, 3 hours ago yours were going to beat them.

All the hype around meaty all week, living in the county there was alot of positivity but same old story. Really and truly 24 pts in 140 mins against wicklow and kildare, it was written in the stars that youd never get enough to challenge."
The fact that you are buzzing after that is extraordinary. You must have no concept of what sport is supposed to be.

It's been a shambles for a while

A poor Dublin team incapable of beating anyone outside of Leinster were still capable of winning multiple titles in a row across the 00's

Well done Dublin, again.

I don't know how poor Meath were. Spillane reckons they didn't try, I am not so sure.
I think that the gulf is just enormous now between Dublin and the field.
Meath would be among the best 8 teams in the country, so all I can say is that whoever plays them next will have to up the levels massively to stay with them for 10 minutes, never mind a half, 70mins, etc .

I think that we saw an even better Dublin team tonight. Amazingly.

Geezer must have said something fairly rough to get red carded. not sure he deserved it. Maybe other counties should sit up and watch that as it could be something that is being cracked down on.

Ulster is not going to be ended and scrapping the provincials is deflecting from the actual problem.

Dublin need to play far more leinster championship games outside croke park
This year would have been ideal with no fans allowed in.
10 in a row and 15 in last 16 years and looks like not much will change in years to come. whats it 7 of last 10 u20 titles as well
play final in croke but beyond that? No. Split up dublin seriously has to be looked at.

As good as Dublin are, and they are wonderful, it does make you wonder if Leinster championship is worth continuing. This is utterly predictable. The whole farce of having a draw, playing the games and knowing the outcome in advance of all of that is demoralising for anyone outside of Dublin surely. It's at the point that I can't see any team beating Dublin in Leinster for the next 20 years

Meath are getting closer to double figure scores against the Dubs! Keep going lads, you're a whisker away from 10 points

I'm a Dublin fan and want absolute perfection from them. Simple. I am disappointed bearing in mind the performance Dublin put in, that the margin wasnt bigger and I'm completely entitled to that opinion.

This terrible beating will do a lot of damage to these meath lads
I guess all they can do is to try to develop the under age going forward"
Dublin were very good, Westmeath & Laois are worse teams than Meath but they set up much better against Dublin, tactics by McEntee were brutal, I have seen better kickout strategy at U14. He has to go, everyone was saying we are improving, but we were beaten by more than last year. Team selection was wrong tonight. I hope Andy does the honourable thing and steps down without delay. No matter who takes over cannot do any worse. There are great players there and they deserve better.
