There is a national referees committee ,Who should be involved in making sure these situations don't occur

oh lordy, my spelling is atrocious, any way I am loving the arrogance of the Dub posters.
Imagine if Kerry won, dear lordy, you might hear a pin dropping in the capital now but ye will be hearing a different pin dropping on all-Ireland day, that of the grenade Kerry will be throwing at ye, enjoy the game girls.

Wasnt the ref in the 86 Kerry Tyrone final a Cork-man?
Wider issue is that there are too many friendly refs out there. One of the GAA's strengths is its tribal loyalties and pride in place. Great for uniting a club or County. Not so good at producing disinterested referees though. If we're honest, all of us, fans and players, are far from neutral. For instance, given the widespread media-led culture of dislike/contempt for Nordie teams, it's questionable if any ref will ever be impartial in relation to a Northern team. If from the North, he'll favour a Northern team and conversely. I've long thought that, once it gets past the provincial stage, the GAA should just train up and pay a couple of rugby refs in the rules. GAA people are by definition biased and the sooner the GAA takes its head out of the sand on that issue, the better. I've seen so many dreadful reffing antics in four decades of following matches that Im almost numbed to it by this stage.

In fairness though

Fair play to those saying enough is enough regarding Gough

There's plenty of positives to also highlight and I've no doubt we've a great game ahead

Hopefully it's a good game for the neutral and it's an enjoyable watch.

As in terms of winning and losing, may the best team win and be congratulated for doing so.

Whatever happens I'll be there at the end applauding the winning team.

5 in a row would be great but if it doesn't happen 4 will have to do. In this day and age it was an extraordinary achievement and it took records to be smashed in order to do it.

If Kerry win what an absolute brilliant achievement it will be for that team, PK first year in charge and introducing plenty of fresh talent. It will undoubtedly be a very famous win and deserve to be congratulated.

I'm done with the slagging now, lets get back to the football and take off the disproven tin foil hats

100% agree Jim.
This is the biggest game of the year.
MOD should close this now.

Supporter, not supporters

It was a family open day as well, not training

Media made too much of that one protester it was a nothing story

I would like to wish David Gough every success in the All Irl. It's a real pity that some people have questioned his appointment. He is an excellent referee. I have no doubt that he will be resolute in his application of the rules. Kerry and Dublin are lucky to have a top class referee officiating their big day.

I agree that David Gough is a good referee but Kerry were not exactly 'lucky' to have him in the 2016 AISF were they, even by David's own admission ?
Funnily enough Kerry were not 'lucky' to have David Coldrick in the 2015 AIF either.

A 20 page thread on a referee before the match has even started, must be a record?

Actually on the Kevin Mc shoulder since I was up the other end I thought it was a great shoulder.

The Kerry guys around us as well.

It wasn't till we go home and show replays we realised is was to shoulder.

At speed in a big game you accept error of judgements......or then you will never have any sport

And, while I'm at it.
Minutes before the Crowley/McManamon incident (73rd minute) Paul Murphy was penalised at the other end for handling the ball on the ground; there was no evidence of that on any of the camera angles available.
So, that was a probable 2 point swing in a game won by Dublin by 2 points.
And incidentally, David gave McMamamon a yellow for remonstrating with the officials after the second Kerry goal; correct sanction is a black card.
Having said that I think he is a good referee. For example, he courageously pulled up a Tyrone player for interfering with a Kerry free in the league game in Killarney this year.
