Replying To Fairplayalways:  "I don't think Richie Hogan would have been up for the intensity of that second half yesterday..I know he has come on in other games this year and done ok but there was a lot at stake there yesterday and Wexford I think would have handled Richie Hogan...Buckleys form has dipped a little and I think he was subbed there a few weeks back so that's why he didn't start..one never knows whats going on behind the scenes and if lads don't handle being dropped Cody or any manager has to act with authority..."
To be fair to Buckley he was out for nearly 12 months with injury and the last game against Wexford was his first game back other than a club game I believe. Still I would of had him in.

I take your point on Hogan but Murphy in the corner was poor, Alyward came on, had a 3 on 1 chance for a goal and took the greedy option and was blocked. His striking is poor at the best of times. Had that been Hogan I think he would have made the pass to the man in the better position. Much more intelligent player even if the legs are starting to go. We tend to forget he's been around since 2007. If Hogan doesn't start against Cork and KK lose, that will be him retired.

Wexford only hit 2 wides yesterday. That means they scored 24 times from 26 shots, unbelievably efficient however they will need to add more to that to be beating the likes of Tipperary.

Thank you so much yellow bellies...... in a typical unpredictable Katser move with my online betting account minutes before throw in, I lumped everything I had in my account (4 figure sum) all on Wexford to win! I had my doubts during the week about Wexford but took the chance!

Replying To Faithfull:  "I thought Mullen was very good for KK also. Typical Cody player, able to win his own 50/50 ball. For 19 he will be a serious hurler and will probably take the mantle off TJ when he retires. Unusual for KK they are lacking seriously in the forward division. 23 points is not winning you any games against the top 3 Munster teams, you almost nearly need to be breaking the 28 point barrier.

Wexford were full value for their win, they found it easier to score and completely took Walsh out of the game compared to 2 weeks ago. Saying that, there is only a puck of a ball between them, if they played again next week I couldn't call it. At no stage in the opening 65 minutes did I think for certain that either team was going to win which is great for hurling.

KK people might know this but what is the story with Hogan? Got no game time the last day, got 90 seconds yesterday. Is it injured or just not up to that level anymore? Buckley also, never got a run even though Murphy and Morrissey were having a torrid time.

KK v Cork and Tipp v Dubs should be a double header in Croker. They would surely get 60-70k for that. No disrespect to Laois or Westmeath."
Richie has had problems with his back for the past year or longer, it's unlikely he'll ever get back to a full 70 minutes of inter county championship hurling, but he was surely worth a ten minute cameo yesterday.

You shouldn't be betting online at your age using all your communion money from your piggy bank.

The sooner the better online filters come in for children.

Replying To county man:  "Exactly, Wexford were just better than Kilkenny today. Also even though they didn't win, they were also the better side in the 3 games they drew in the round robin. They are now the only unbeaten side left in the championship (along with Laois) which is some going.

I'm delighted for Davy, this was make or break year and he has delivered. Maybe it something to do with the previous management too, but he has brought Wexford from also rans even in Leinster championship to genuine All-Ireland contenders in 3 years which is unreal. With what he done with Clare, Waterford and now Wexford, I hope he will be finally recognised as a great manager which is what he deserves."
For me, the words "Davy" and "great manager" do not go well together in the same sentence yet. There's no denying he has achieved a lot , and he has achieved with every county he has got involved with. But his tactics imo are self-limiting and can be effective in the short term but over time tend to get found out. He won the tactical battle yesterday and it will be interesting to see if he will come up with something different for the semi final, if as one would expect, they will meet Tipp in that semi final. And he will have to, because if they play the same way as they did yesterday in a semi final against Tipp there will only be one winner....and it wont be Wexford!!
If on the other hand Dublin are their opponents, a reprise of their tactics yesterday probably would see them through.

If Davy brings Wexford to the All Ireland final --and most certainly if they win it ---Davy will then quite rightly be hailed by most hurling folk as a great manager.

I wouldn't be so sure about who Wexford play in the semi-final. They can't meet Limerick but it could be any one of the other four teams. There is no guarantee either that Tipperary will beat Dublin

Replying To Heftydickonem:  "I stand by my statement that Kilkenny blew that game. Wexford are playing with a purpose, are well drilled, tactically they got it right and such efficient shooting is usually a sign of a team putting in an optimal performance. Kilkenny are disjointed, seem to be tactically inept, don't seem to be playing to their potential (at least up front) and unusually, yesterday they made some shocking decisions. Despite all this Kilkenny could have won. Reid's two incidents of over elaboration and Murphy's 'lobbed-in' frees alone are a four point swing, then 12 wides on top."
Sure when we lost the 2008 final if we hadnt of let in the 5 goals and shot so many wides we wouldve won it!

Replying To Oldtourman:  "What is so crazy about it. Whenever Cork Tipp or Kilkenny are beaten, the immediate response is that one of them was in fact the better team anyway. How many matches have each of these sides won against the run of play. and you should see how quickly their supporters would 'put you right' if you claimed the losing side 'was better' anyway."
You are spot on there Oldtourman. It is a symptom of only the elites have a right to win. Let alone when they meet each other in the final the media pronounces this traditional final is what everyone is waiting for and is the only real legitimate final. It gets sickening after about 60 years.

Well Wexford cannot meet Kilkenny in a Semi Final either and we cannot meet Tipp, as we have both met them in the provincial finals.

Your forgetting about Laois and rightly so because I have too! I'd say Wexford will get winners of Tipp v Dublin and I'd fancy Cork v KK

What happens if both Cork and Tipp or Dublin and KK qualify would it then be a open draw as repete clashes are unavoidable or is it already set that the winner of the Leinster prov runner up game faces Munster champ in the semi?

My understanding is if Cork and Tipp make it Tipp can't play Limerick. If Dublin and Kilkenny qualify Kilkenny can't play Wexford. Fairly sure that's correct.

Its provincial final pairings they are trying to avoid repeating. So if Tipp or Kilkenny come through, or bot, there wont be a semifinal draw.

It's wexford v Tipp\Dub and Limerick v Cork\KK. The winners of Limerick v Cork will be champions i feel.
