Replying To hurler101:  "Did the same about wex park. Critical of ref in first game, too whistle happy was the jist! Summary- Harriers and Glynn very poor. Oylegate and Martins both very good. The quality of the young players on both sides is very refreshing! Can someone tell me why Seamus Casey wasnt on the under 21 team?"
And the worst thing is that both of those referees are on the intercounty panel.

No real surprises over the weekend. Cloughbawn and Ferns look like they are in trouble, especially Ferns. The Rapps really taking them apart, I think they will be in the relegation final. Oulart looked very impressive against Gorey but are The Martins looking like champions already? Another big victory. In Intermediate 3 wins for Monageer, wouldn't of expected that and also Annes getting back to winning ways.

I suppose they are entitled to a break, their "our-season" for next year isnt that far away.
But if I was a club player I'd be rightly p****d off. They wait around for most of the year, playing maybe 2 or 3 meaningful matches, and their "big" players go on holiday when the club needs them most.
Bit of a conundrum !!

18 of the players are supposed to be going away on a trip being organised by one of them. Total lack of respect to there clubs and fellow clubmates. They should be ashamed of themselves.

They are a disgrace to their clubs if that is true. Everything stops for them during the summer then they f**k off on a holiday. Clubs should suspend their players who do this

You will find a lot of them don't play football anyhow or their clubs have little interest in football

That is not true.Ramsgrange starlight sarsfields all senior clubs with huge interest in football. It will not reflect well on the players

Most of them don't play football...sure that's okay. What about the players that do play football?? In fairness to the county board, they have got the fixtures spot on in terms of arranging them so it's feasible to see every senior match over the weekend, and so there's no clash with the big game on RTE, but it smacks in the face of the clubs wanting clarity for fixtures when lads can sneak off on holiday all because they are county men. I know of lads working their wedding around the championship, and then finding a round of fixtures on the same weekend, without any prior warning

Agree 100%. The Clubs are where it starts and finishes. Young lads(not all but a majority) in my experience, have no loyalty to their clubs. These kids grow up wanting everything right, demanding high standards, but dont apply the same standards to themselves. Anyway missing a few football matches in wexford, who cares about that in this county.? Very few. That message has now gotten thru to all upcoming players. Job done.

The people who put in the work at club level over the years making these players the players they are must be so let down by this. A load of these players are playing football so the excuse they are not is untrue. Even the few who are not playing have a round of hurling following week. Going on a binge for a few days is not the way to prepare

Unfortunately I have missed all the recent club action due to working away but I really appreciate all the detailed posts about games including my own clubs games so keep up the good work posters :)
In regard to this holiday.... Is it 100% gospel truth or possibly a bad rumour?? I find it hard to believe that players would actually do this to their friends and team mates who put their summer on hold to support their county boys. If it is true it really is disgraceful and the players involved im sure will realise this. As a previous poster has put the fact is the lads who dont play football have hurling the following week and its not exactly ideal preparation to say the least.
The way everything is going its just a matter of time before there is talk of club and county players being completely seperate and teams having to play championship games without their county players.
Club before County lads, Club before County.

Does it really surprise people that much?? Lads with county teams spend no time with their clubs anymore, the loyalty that was once there is not anymore. It is in some players but its not as constant as it was.

For some I cannot blame them though. Why havent the county board released the remaining fixtures for this year?? When should they go on holiday??

Id like to know what players are going too, maybe they are qualified in hurling and have no interest in football in their club or them personally.

When these lads get knocked out for wexford there is a feeling like school holidays, not who can I serve next. Its hard on them but I can see peoples frustration too. I feel sorry for the clubs involved but I'd be slow to lambaste young men for having a life outside of the game.

Very hard to ask the clubs and there members to support the county team when The majority of the county team go on holidays in middle of club season. If they were still in intercounty championship would they be booking a holiday, absolutely not, yet have no problem doing it for there club championship. Been lambasted is the least they should get for this.

If you stop and think about it you might try answer my questions! Why havent they got a complete list of when and where they are playing championship so they can book a holiday?? That a co board problem. When should they go if this time is so ridiculous??

There is championship every weekend from now until each team is knocked out every club knows this so that is a pointless argument. It's not the county boards fault that 18 senior hurlers decide to go to Ibiza on a championship wend. Anyone that played club in wex knows August is not a good time to book holidays.

As regards when could they go a different time when championship is over Holaween, Xmas. Why didn't they organize it one of the free wends in between county championship they wouldn't have missed any match, because they know it would have been the wrong thing to do. But wait we will do it in the club season our clubs are less important the our county.
