Comórtas Peile na Gaeltachta

The annual Comórtas Peile na Gaeltachta takes place in the Donegal Gaeltacht this June Bank Holiday weekend.

All seven Gaeltacht counties as well as clubs from Dublin and Antrim will be represented in the event that runs from Friday, May 29 to Monday, June 1 in Kilcar. This year sees the 55th staging of Comórtas and more games than ever will be broadcast on TG4 and RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta, who are both proud partners of the competition.

Looking forward to the weekend, GAA president Jarlath Burns said: “The Irish language is an extremely important part of the GAA, and there is no better way to bring Irish speakers and Gaelic football supporters together from all corners of the country than through Comórtas Peile na Gaeltachta.

“I wish everyone taking part in this year’s Comórtas Peile na Gaeltachta the very best of luck, from players, managers, referees, competition organisers, supporters, and anyone else involved. I am certain that everyone will have a memorable weekend in Cill Chartha and in the Donegal Gaeltacht.”

Comórtas Peile na Gaeltachta chairperson Dónal Ó Laoire added: “We are really looking forward to Comórtas Peile na Gaeltachta in Cill Chartha. I would like to express my sincere thanks to the people of Cill Chartha for the wonderful work they have done over the past year, and I wish them every success in the week ahead.

“I wish all the teams taking part in the various competitions this year from the seven Gaeltacht counties as well as Dublin and Antrim the very best of luck. I am certain that a fantastic weekend of football and Gaeilge lies ahead.”
