Andy McEntee refused to be drawn on his future as Antrim football manager after a disappointing season ended with an 11-point Tailteann Cup preliminary quarter-final defeat to Wexford.

It followed on from relegation to Division 4 of the Allianz League in the spring and an early Ulster SFC exit at the hands of an understrength Armagh at Corrigan Park. McEntee’s current three-year term has now come to an end, but the Meath man wasn’t given much away when telling reporters in Chadwicks Wexford Park: “It’s probably just a little bit too early to be talking about that.

“I mean, there’s a lot of different stakeholders involved here so I’m not going to say anything about that.

“Now is not the time to talk about it, it’s just a disappointing day so we’ll have to sit and reflect and see what’s best for this group. Whether that’s me or someone else, I don’t know.

“It has been a tough season. It didn’t pan out the way we would have liked and we were missing a number of key players from the off and we probably just didn’t have enough quality to cover for that really.”
