Westmeath claimed Leinster U20 ‘B’ football championship honours last night thanks to a comprehensive 3-17 to 1-5 victory over Offaly in Tullamore.

The Lake County had run up a 0-3 to 0-0 lead before Conor Fox grabbed the first goal for Offaly in the 18th minute and then steered his side in front with a point in the very next attack.

The visitors came up with the perfect response which saw the points of Tadgh Baker and Ronan Murray backed up by a Finn Duffy goal as they moved towards a 1-7 to 1-2 half-time lead.

After the restart, Westmeath would outscore their neighbours by 0-9 to 0-1 to put on hand on the trophy prior to Shane Corcoran sending in their second goal and they’d bag another late on for good measure.
