Antrim are set to ratify Michael McShane as their new senior hurling manager next week.
The Ballycastle clubman succeeds Davy Fitzgerald in the role following the Clare native’s departure after two years in charge of the Saffrons.
McShane’s was in charge of Antrim’s U20s during that time and steered the group to a Leinster preliminary quarter-final in 2025 before winning this year's Leinster ‘B’ crown.
His nine years in charge of Slaughtneil saw him leading the Derry giants to a first Ulster club SHC success in 2016 and adding three more provincial titles after that.
After that, McShane’s time in charge of Tyrone saw the Red Hands capturing the Nickey Rackard Cup in 2022.
Antrim county board chairman Seamus McMullan confirmed the news with the following statement on Friday after McShane’s name was put forward for ratification by the board’s selection committee.
"Michael brings a wealth of experience to the role, along with an extensive knowledge of Antrim hurling," said McMullan.
"We are an ambitious hurling county, and that ambition is shared by Michael and his incoming management team.
"Everyone across Antrim will wish them well, and when the competitions begin in 2027, the county will be fully behind our players and management.
"I also want to thank the selection committee for overseeing a diligent, thorough, and professional appointment process."
