Tullamore’s bid for a clean sweep of Offaly football titles was ended by Edenderry last Saturday.

Edenderry’s 2-9 to 1-5 victory in the MFC final at Glenisk O’Connor Park denied the county town side the full collection of U14, U16, Minor, Senior, Senior ‘B’ and Junior ‘B’ Championships. Tullamore are still in contention for U20 honours, despite losing to neighbours Shamrocks in the first round last week.

Goals from Oliver Goulding and Cormac Farrell helped Edenderry to a surprisingly comfortable win after they had lost the U16FC decider to Tullamore seven days earlier. The success also went some ways towards atoning for a disastrous SFC campaign on a weekend when the Reds’ ladies were also crowned intermediate champions.
