The Kerry team holiday will take place earlier than usual this year.

While All-Ireland winning teams have traditionally holidayed over the Christmas period, Kerry have decided to have theirs at the end of October, which would ensure they are not behind the curve when it comes to returning to pre-season training. Despite delivering five All-Ireland SFC titles to the Kingdom as manager, Jack O’Connor has never put Sam Maguires back-to-back and it’s believed that was a key factor in his decision to extend his reign by two more years.

This week’s county board meeting heard that the Kerry players and management will depart for Nashville and Puerto Rico on the Bank Holiday Monday, October 27, the day after the county SFC final. If there is a replay, it won’t take place until after the travelling party returns.
