Westmeath hurlers have suffered another retirement blow with the decision by Darragh Clinton to call time on his inter-county career.

The highly-rated forward has called it a day after 10 years in the maroon and white jersey, and just a few weeks after helping his beloved Delvin to a county SHC 'B' title following a replay victory over St Oliver Plunkett's. His retirement comes less than a week after outstanding full back Tommy 'Jogger' Doyle also bowed out.

"Westmeath GAA wishes to acknowledge Darragh Clinton, who has announced his retirement from the Westmeath Senior Hurling panel after ten years of dedicated service," a county board statement read.

"Darragh has represented Westmeath with commitment and pride throughout his decade on the panel and was part of the county’s memorable Joe McDonagh Cup–winning team in 2022. His hard work, consistency, and professionalism have made a lasting impact on Westmeath hurling.

"We thank Darragh for his contribution and wish him the very best in the years ahead.

"Thank you, Darragh."
