A crowd of around 25,000 is expected to descend on SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh for Saturday evening’s glamour Allianz Hurling League Division 1A clash between Cork and Tipperary.

Cork GAA confirmed on Tuesday afternoon that just under 23,000 tickets had already been sold for what is a repeat of last year’s All-Ireland SHC final, with only tickets for the Blackrock end terrace still available.

The Cork hurlers have enjoyed a huge following in recent seasons. Last season, all of their ‘home’ matches in the Allianz League attracted attendances of more than 20,000, with the final against Tipp selling out. That trend has continued this year with a crowd of 20,464 attending the Round 1 hurling and football double-header featuring Cork v Waterford and Cork v Cavan.

Cork’s Round 2 hurling meeting with Limerick last year was watched by 23,402 spectators, but that figure is now certain to be surpassed.
