Trillick moved into the last four of the Tyrone senior football championship thanks to a hard earned 1-13 to 1-11 win over Pomeroy in Omagh last night.

Underdogs coming into the quarter-final clash, Pomeroy made a superb start that saw them recording the first four points via a couple of Marty Coyle effort from distance.

Lee Brennan and Ciaran Daly pulled back singles for Trillick but the ball would be in their net once Brendan Burns palmed in and Hugh McNamee and Coyle (two-pointer) added scores that moved their side towards a 1-8 to 0-8 advantage come half-time.

The 2023 champions sent over the first three points of the restart to get back on levels terms, with James Garrity, Brennan (free) and Daly all on target for them.

Tyrone ace Kieran McGeary nudged Pomeroy back ahead and they edged the lead until substitute Nathan Farry hammered in Trillick’s goal with four minutes remaining.

Pomeroy fought to the finish and hit the crossbar late on as the St Macartan's men survived a scare to become the first team to advance into the semi-finals of this year’s O’Neill Cup race.
