Replay ordered after subs controversy in Mayo

The Mayo IFC quarter-final between Kiltane and Islandeady will be replayed after the former was found to have played extra-time with a full complement of 15 players, despite having two sent off in normal time in last Sunday's original fixture.

Kiltane won the game by 0-27 to 1-21, but Islandeady successfully appealed the result after referee Frank Flynn allowed Kiltane to play extra-time with a full team. The winners finished normal time with 13 players after Mikie Sweeney and Mickey Conroy were both sent off on second yellow cards.

Players sent off in normal time were permitted to be replaced before the rule – Rule 2.5 (i) – was changed at Congress in 2024. The replay will take place next Sunday at 3pm in Parke.

Meanwhile, a great weekend for Andy Moran and his family was capped when his daughter won €625 in Ballaghaderreen’s 50/50 lotto draw on Sunday night. The win came just a few hours after the All-Ireland winning manager made a crucial cameo appearance for Ballagh’ in their Mayo SFC relegation final victory over Balla.

Following receipt of the referee’s report and a subsequent review by Mayo CCC, it can be confirmed that the Egan Jewellers Intermediate Football Championship fixture between Kiltane and Islandeady will be replayed. The replay will take place on Sunday, October 4th, at 3pm in Parke. #mayogaa
