Antrim coach Seoirse Bulfin says the Saffrons are in for “a fair test” this weekend as they open their Allianz Hurling League Division 1B campaign away to Wexford.
The Glensmen secured their Division 1B status with victory over Laois in the final league game last season and will look to put their best foot forward as they travel to take on the Slaneysiders at Chadwicks Wexford Park on Saturday afternoon (4pm).
Speaking to BBC Sport NI, Bulfin, who joined Davy Fitzgerald’s set-up in September, said that he expects every game in the second-tier division to be “cut-throat”.
"Everyone wants to test themselves against the best teams in the country and going to Wexford in the first game, you're going to get a fair test down there as it's a very tough place to play," he said.
"We spent five years down there, Davy and I, so we know what it's like and it will be a big test starting off. We will be under pressure for a few games but all you are doing is to get that fight and battling spirit into lads.
"It doesn't get any easier the following week with Clare coming to town, All-Ireland champions in 2024. On top of that, you have Kildare who are on a great run of form, Carlow an exceptionally good team, then Dublin who beat Limerick in an All-Ireland quarter-final last year and finish up with old rivals Down.
"That's a fantastic league to get you ready for championship as every game will be cut-throat."
