Mark Dowd has been officially ratified as Roscommon’s new senior football manager.

Last night’s meeting of the county board made it official that the Strokestown man will succeed Davy Burke as the county’s new supremo.

Burke stepped down in June after three years in charge of the Rossies, with Dowd coming in after having previously been part of the county’s minor set-up in 2006 which achieved All-Ireland success.

The current Roscommon Gaels boss also managed Roscommon’s U21s to Connacht glory a decade ago and was part of the seniors’ backroom for the provincial triumphs of 2010 and 2019.

Shannonside FM reports that current Michael Glaveys manager Iain Daly is set to be a part of Dowd’s backroom team.
