Wicklow manager Oisin McConville has added former inter-county players Kevin McKernan and Dermot McArdle to his backroom team ahead of the 2027 season.

The pair, who represented Down and Monaghan respectively, have joined as coaches and selectors as Wicklow prepare for their return to the Sam Maguire Cup competition following this year's historic Tailteann Cup triumph.

McKernan was part of the Down team that reached the 2010 All-Ireland final against Cork and earned an All-Star nomination that year. He has since been involved in coaching, most recently helping Abbey CBS Newry to MacRory Cup success.

McArdle, meanwhile, played corner-back for Monaghan between 1996 and 2011 and was part of Vinny Corey's backroom team when the Farney reached the 2023 All-Ireland semi-final.

They replace Frankie Dolan, who has stepped away after two seasons with Wicklow, having played an important role in their Tailteann Cup success.

McConville will now prepare for a fifth season in charge as Wicklow look to build on their remarkable 2026 campaign.
